DS9 is layered work featuring compelling, multifaceted characters. It is serialised yet episodic so individual episodes/two parters are satisfying in themselves while adding to the greater whole. Quark is perhaps the most compelling character in all of Star Trek and the Sisko/Jake relationship is the wholesomest father/son dynamic in all of television. You should start with S01E10 Move Along Home
