lol I ran out of brain drugs because work has gotten intense lately and discovered that my new company doesn't cover prescriptions until you hit your deductible. I haven't used a cent of my health insurance since I started 2 years ago Guess I'm waiting until Jan 1 to do that and start the therapy I've been putting off, no point in using it now!!

If you don't have N+1 redundancy on your grid's substations/transformers, if something goes out loads need to be rapidly shed to avoid overloading the equipment still in service. Also just because it's buried doesn't mean it's probably fine. All buried conduit, and I do mean all, floods. Conduit flexes. Wire degrades. poo poo does not last forever, and a lot of downtown grids are 70+ years old. It is not an exaggeration to say that the country is likely trillions of dollars behind on upkeep of its infra.

I have a close family member who just got diagnosed with cancer and my SO works in an oncology infusion clinic Half my friends think I am being "dramatic" when I choose to skip game night for the nth time since november. I'm terrified that my (actually decently cautious) employer will end WFH at the end of this month. They can pull WFH from my dead spiteful hands Libs are willing to play the odds because they believe they're fixed in their favor now that there's a vaccine. The level of stat-illiteracy is loving infuriating

Cooking is frustrating because your first time trying something you'll probably gently caress it up unless you take it pretty slowly Every time you'll get faster tho, and it's rewarding as hell to get to the point where you can keep multiple things going at the same time and bring a full meal together in like 20 mins Not everyone has that learning time to invest unfortunately

I'm paying ~18% more for a rowhouse than it sold for 15 months ago and everyone I know is saying I got a good deal and I'm just lucky I didn't have to deal with a bidding war. I'm lucky enough to be able to do so because I've been consistently employed in a STEM job and living lean to save up a 20% down payment for almost 10 years I put off buying at the beginning of the pandemic because A) I had just started a new job and B) of course housing prices will go down I've been waiting for a dip since I started my career in 2012! The moral of the story is "be born 10 years earlier"

Honestly my first thought on seeing that is "dang, looks like they put in central air and a new roof. A just-renovated single-family 3/3 for less than $250k? What a bargain!" Haven't seen the inside but even if it required 6-figs in work it would still beat out the market in most northeast cities But maybe my brain is just broken from the past 6 months of househunting
