A user on YouTube has in a playlist this ESPN original series called The Bronx is Burning, based on the book of the same name. It’s about the 1977 Yankees, Reggie Jackson’s first season there (The Straw that Stirs the Drink!) Also there were power outages, garbage strikes, and the Summer of Sam. Anyway John Turturro plays Billy Martin (with fake ears), and Oliver Platt is Steinbrenner. I don’t recognize most of the other actors, but a lot of them look like their ‘77 Yanks counterparts. The acting isn’t always spectacular but there’s enough good poo poo in here, if you’re into baseball history, to keep it going. I though some o’ you Yankees freaks might be interested. https://youtu.be/CbhLMB7yso8

As the ball gets closer it passes into the peripheral vision faster than the batter’s eye/brain can keep track of, which creates the illusory effect of the ball’s trajectory becoming steeper. Someone recreated the illusion for a competition a few years ago. I’ll see if I can find it.

Apparently game 5 of the ALCS was the first time ever a team hit a leadoff homerun and a walkoff homerun in the same game Since Springer's homerun was on the first pitch, that means the first pitch and the last pitch thrown to the Astros were both for homeruns

I'm pretty pleased with the Astros getting to game 7 of the ALCS despite only one start from Verlander and one game from Alvarez tbh Bregman missed half the season, Altuve had the worst season of his career, getting this far was pretty nice. Good luck to the Rays in the series

Oh that's gonna be lost on most of the super edgy people in SAS, but yeah, it was a fantastic season for the Astros. They dramatically overachieved, and honestly, if our young arms can continue to produce like this we'll be a good team for quite a bit longer. AL Cardinals sounds kinda nice.

Yeah, it's been kind of surprising to me too.
