I got nobody besides the gimme Noelle and nothing above 3*. Worst possible outcome I guess but I don't want to make new emails and spend twenty minutes and poo poo to reroll. Just to counter all the good tutorial rolls being posted I guess so people don't forget gacha is gacha. :smith:

Note there's a difference between the small teleport markers and the towers goddess statue things that unlock the map and can be prayed at and whatever. Both are teleport shortcuts but the former are only that.

Don't worry, people posting about good gacha rolls is the gaming equivalent of casinos having flashing lights and bells when someone wins at the slot machine. It makes it seem like dramatic successes are common and normal despite the actual odds being horrible. :toot:

Xianling's bear is really finicky about height too when it comes to activating pillars/torches/whatever they're called. If it's even a bit below their wont actually activate them.

I gave up trying to reroll for a 5* since I have no patience, and honestly (at AR22ish) this seems... pretty alright? Wound up mostly settling onto Chongyun/Xiangling/Barbara/Fischl in open world stuff, lose the fancy benefits from double elements but basically everything seems to combo into everything else and it can handle anything I've run into that isn't vastly over my head? Maybe I'll get hosed later though or something. :v:

I remain a little impressed about how the open world stuff has copied the BOTW gameplay loop without copying the itemization. Instead of finding essentially disposable gear you... find disposable gear that you feed to your real gear. It's probably an even better implementation but it only works because of the grindy gacha gameplay flow.

Also... yeah, gacha drop rates are always poo poo. Never ever roll in a game like this expecting to get something specific or even anything useful at all, you'll be disappointed.

If you're the kind of person who loves exploring every tiny little bit of a map to find out what's there, then the game has a lot for you. If you're not (and I'm not), then once you hit AR25 or so, the game becomes a "make bits of progress for about 30 to 60 minutes a day" sort of thing.
Yeah I'm slowly approaching the end of getting all the teleport spots and anemo/geowhateverthey'recalled and other finite world exploration resources, and it's becoming clear that the intended "endgame" is to basically spend a bit per day spending your resin time currency on the few boss fights or dungeons or whatever you need to farm the most, and then you can either take a break or faff around looting respawning chests and stuff for raw materials to use later. And that's... fine? Maybe it'll get tedious quickly, but the core gameplay is still fun and it doesn't exactly seem like there's going to be any shortage of Making Numbers Go Up for the foreseeable future, but maybe I just have a higher tolerance for that than most. And even if it does get tedious I'd have gotten more than I would have expected from a F2P game, so it's win win either way. :v:

When does stuff in the world respawn? I know common chests do eventually, but daily? Weekly? Do more nodes respawn and if so how often?

Apparently it's not common in China either, to the consternation of the locals. Though the posts I saw translated about it had them blaming the swapped controls on the US so hey. :v:

Yeah you never see comments from the 95% of people who did crappy rolls because there's nothing to brag about. Or even about the rolls the lucky people did that weren't successful.

So does Amber's doll. Solved a three-person switch chest with her and Ningguang, and if there's a four-switch one somewhere you can solo it by throwing on Geo MC too. :downs:

I really hope the first patch adds in the ability to see what stats are on an item you want to use for enhancing. Because accidentally feeding a level 0 that has a fantastic stat set up into another artifact because it's impossible to differentiate between artifacts is bad game design.
A ghetto way to avoid this I guess is to use white/green artifacts to get anything you really want to keep to level 1 so you know not to feed them as fodder later. Kind of annoying to have to do any kind of kludges like that at all though.

I'm in a similar boat honestly. AR36, plenty of 4* artifacts, but all of two 5* and only like six or seven of them (and none of the 5*) have +atk%. I'm still doing alright with attack-up blues and such where I can but RNG is gonna RNG. :effort:

Come to think of it, is there any other use for excess 3* weapons besides XP? Selling/discarding them just seems to give enhancement crystals that give less total points than just using the weapon directly. :thunk:

I have never seen a gacha game that gives you generic items for stuff like that, the whole point of mechanics like this is to encourage people to spend money even after they get a character they want because the whole genre is predatory. :ssh:

I have a feeling there's some weird mechanics behind chest respawning. They definitely respawn, I'm like 95% I've run into commons I've claimed before, but it feels like there's a maximum number that can be active at once. So you won't see respawns until you've opened X% and the ones that do respawn will be spread around rather than in a convenient farming loop. Have no real way to prove this besides a gut feeling though.

Well I've been saying resin really needed to have a higher cap and to recharge faster, maybe 1/5m instead of every 8m. At least we're getting one of the two. :effort:

With shields, I have no idea what the hell they're thinking. I get the idea is to try and make sure you use the right elemental shield or something but it definitely devalues some characters hard.

Asimo
Sep 23, 2007

It's been mentioned already but past a certain point it's almost better to just hope for a good 5* (or even 4*) weapon rather than a new character, and that certain point comes surprisingly quick. Hit AR 40 now and making a new character usable means getting them up to near or past 60 and that's a massive investment of resin and mora, game hasn't even been out a month and I'm starting to consider weapons or constellation+ on a character I use a lot to be a better result.

I strongly suspect they'll make it easier to level characters in the near future since they obviously want to encourage rolling often, but that still likely won't be for a few months.

"Run" being more "can actually launch at all and doesn't crash" since while the game is crazy intensive for a phone app if you're just doing a purchase it doesn't really matter if you have 2 fps.

The real takeaway is that regardless of whether going up in rank spawns more, the number of chests is effectively finite and unfarmable. Which is stupendously dumb, but ah well.

It's not nearly that much? But it'll still get one from 0 to 6 or 8ish depending on the drop luck. And it doesn't involve any resin expense so it's at least something you can grind without competing with that.

I do wish timers like these were more 20 or 22 hours instead of 24, it makes it hard to actually do them daily.

Yeah, it sucks to admit and I wish it wasn't true but chests absolutely don't respawn. Start making common chests you find in convenient locations, check in periodically, and you'll find they never actually reappear and any chests you do find are just ones you've missed. It's just super easy to miss things even in obvious places or spots you've been before.

The upside is it's increased for enemies too, which is handy. ... Except they tend to have a lot more total HP than characters do so it's still pretty meaningless to them while it absolutely chews through you. If it's intended as a buff it's absolutely fallen flat, and it's made me consider promoting Razor to main DPS instead of my Klee so I don't keep half killing myself in open world stuff. :downs:

I've gotten one prototype drop (catalyst) and almost no 5* artifacts from anything and none of them useful (including three separate +healing gladiator helms, lol) and I'm kind of hoping my cobbled together assortment of 3-4* crap can keep carrying me if I hit AR6. I have no loving idea how people are running around with full elemental domain sets or whatever.

Also the condensed resin is a bit more generous than I expected. It's not refundable like fragilenresin is, but it gives you double reward from a domain or leyline so it's basically a 1:1 resin exchange but half the actual fighting for the rewards. It's not something I'd go out of my way to make unless I had to considering the comparatively limited usefulness but it might be worth it if you were planning to do a bunch of ley lines at once to save time or to minimize the food expense of slogging through domains above your level.
