"The entire history of this incarnation is one of temporal orbits, retcons, paradoxes, parallel time lines, reiterations, and divergences. How anyone can make head or tail of all this chaos, I don't know."
They got too close to the truth!

My one wish when they come back after this November hiatus is they get Will Ferrell back for one more skit with Darrell Hammond.

I have neglected to come up with a clever title

Baldwin's Trump playing "Macho Man" on the piano was pretty funny.
Seeing Baldwin make a bona-fide joke (I also liked 'widdle bit left') followed by him showing up in a skit sans makeup gave me the (likely premature) impression that some kinda genie's curse had been lifted and Baldwin can return to doing whatever he would otherwise be doing (which is probably hosting SNL).

And Norm Macdonald as Burt Reynolds! Although the question being if Alex Trebeck is playing Celebrity Jeopardy in the afterlife with Sean Connery and Burt Reynolds -- where exactly did he end up?

Oh my god I didn’t put that together. The old gang is all gone now :smith:

I was of the mind that the 40th sketch should remain the final sendoff, but now I kind of really want to see just one more. But maybe it should be left as it was. The 40th was a really good sendoff.

Just pick a relevant vintage the next chance we get. Hell, just make an hour of Jeopardy! sketches.

I like that one a lot. If only they'd managed to put "The Rapists" in this one, it'd be perfect.

Fallon's impression of Sandler is really good.

I can't be sure but I think the single hardest laugh I ever had during a Celebrity Jeopardy was Fallon as Hilary Swank. The category was, "Colors that end in 'urple". First clue was, "This color ends in 'urple." Swank rings in and says, "What is light-urple."

Speaking of which, some programming notes for tonight:

Vintage: Martin Short with No Doubt from December 7 1996. This was the episode with the first Celebrity Jeopardy sketch, featuring Sean Connery, Burt Reynolds, and Jerry Lewis.

Also, the regular repeat is the season premiere, Chris Rock with Megan Thee Stallion. Of note is that this episode’s 15-second teases will remain intact. This season started with the teases expanded from 7 seconds, which they’d been for the last 22 seasons, to 15 seconds for just one episode, before being trimmed to 10 seconds for the next five episodes. I had kinda expected the rerun to edit these to conform to the rest of the year, glad that they’ve been left intact! Now, whether or not your station’s MCO gets the memo and doesn’t mangle them, is another story.

Honestly the teases are the most interesting part of the premiere episode.

And finally, in case you missed it last week, here’s a bunch of Celebrity Jeopardy! sketches that NBC recently uploaded.

Tonight, we finish up November with a repeat of Issa Rae and Biebs, but before that: SNL Vintage from November 23 1996, Phil Hartman with Bush.

While I prefer his episode from the previous season, this one has some highlights. Parody car commercial for Lux 420SL (There’s a radio in my fingernail… CAR!,) first appearance of Cinder Calhoun in a character parade sketch, decent early TV Funhouse with Michael Jackson as a boy-crazy Hanna-Barbera character, Rodney Dangerfield in WU, and a couple strong ensemble sketches to round out the night.

I wish they’d run Farley’s show from a year after this where the entire running joke of the cold open and “monologue” is: Chris’s substance abuse problems are severely impacting his ability to host the show.
