misandry is real
I saw in a GQ video that John Lithgow let slip that he was on set for a day of the new Dexter series as a ghost haunting Dexter as he wakes up in a hospital bed, having survived being killed. Now I'm reading here that it's also gonna star Peter Dinklage, Uma Thurman, Kristen Ritter and Neil Patrick Harris? Is it bad I'm excited for this? It's gonna be so good (bad).

Everything post OG Dexter has been better than the last few seasons of the original series. I assume Resurrection will be as well.

Presumably he appears to Dexter whilst he's in Limbo, represented as a white void with some of the architecture of Kings Cross Station Miami PD.

As long as Chicky Hines can come.

We haven’t heard anything about that Trinity prequel for a while, I wonder if they quietly realised how bad an idea it was.

You forgot Steve Schrippa, Eric Stonestreet and David Dastmalchian. This cast is weirdly stacked.

Just finished New Blood rewatch and its stark watching it right after S8 how much better it is in every way. Cinematography, acting, back to having Dexter actually be scary and unhinged and delusional at times again.

I just don't get the choice to get Angel back, set up a confrontation between him and Dexter that would be like a perfect conclusion of the whole show, and then just never cut back to Angel after he sets off to see Dexter. Absolutely baffling choice, esp. considering this was planned to be the final season.

Yeah, it absolutely stumbles at the finish line, but the cast is good, it looks great, the writing is decent for the kinda silly pulp this should be. And you're right, the best part is Dexter's characterization after how ridiculous he became in the last half of the original show.

Also, Head Debra was a great (if obvious choice). Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter are really, really good in their scenes together.

I actually liked that this old cop didn't cross the country and bring him down, but that he was contacted and helpful enough for someone with an intelligence far beyond any Miami Metro officer to figure it out.

The thing that really made it stick for me is that much like Maria's evidence about the special forces member who said Doakes was out of the country being noticed all those years later by the podcaster, Angel had never stopped caring about Maria's death. Obviously, it was a case cold as ice that he probably never thought would be solved, but to me, I got the vibe that he kept that folder and would write stuff down every few months/years if he had an idea, never giving up on her. In the original ending, which I think pretty clearly was meant to have Dexter die, Angel no doubt makes his way up there and concludes that Dexter killed his ex-wife. It fits with the legacy of Miami Metro being wrong.

Totally, but unless Dexter reveals the truth I would imagine most people would struggle to connect it to Dexter.

And the genius that was smarter than any Miami metro employee had to have a basic concept of investigation explained to her.

By a Miami metro employee.

If they're gonna bring back anyone like that it should be Doakes. Erik King hasn't been up to much lately, I'm sure they could get him.

Between constantly being willing to show up in this show for flashbacks and taking on Dumbledore at 79 years old for what is probably a minimum 7 year long role, you’ve got to think Lithgow’s desperate to get paid these days.

Wait, he's the Dumbeldore in the new TV series? I'd like to see a clip of that.
