It's kinda funny, this escape attempt only cements the fact that he's going to be locked up for a very long time. Only in Murder Madsen's brain is this a good idea. Not a single person in the country does not know his face, and his escape was noticed from the start, and the local police HQ is literally the neighbor of the prison. But yeah, this was the guy that thought he could talk his way out of cutting a journalist into six pieces. If anything good comes from this, it's that he'll be locked up more and longer for this. My thoughts go out to the poor hostage and the van driver. I hope they get the help they need.

The "Herstedvester" institution he fled from is relatively secure with a four meter tall fortified perimeter wall, but generally it's a quiet and unexciting prison with little internal violence between inmates. It is known as the bin containing the worst perverts and deplorables. People who have hurt women and children, the bottom rung in the pecking order in the prison population with few friends on the outside. So incarcerated criminals of this rank voluntarily seek transfer to Herstedvester because they're mercilessly bullied as members of genpop elsewhere and none of them have any moral edge over anybody else. Peter was previously transferred to this institution for precisely this reason; he is very recognisable and everybody knows what he did. He was assaulted in the high security Storstøm Prison, the genpop of which is considered much "harder" - career gang members and such. He is likely to now be transferred back to there.
