Glad to see Anaal Nathrakh getting posted. Their name means something like "Serpent's Breath" in Old Irish which owns.

This total gem of theirs ends with a killer line, "Uranus and Pluto stood in conjunction in the Sign of the Black Widow." That refers to the Hiroshima/Nagasaki bombs (made from Uranium and Plutonium) and black widow = death. Amazing.

When no one was looking, Serval took forty Japari buns. She took 40 buns. That's as many as four tens. And that's terrible.
Two tracks from albums I loved as an angsty teenager.

The first one being KSE.....the old KSE, before Howard and their modern sound.
This was their album that kind of rose them to fame, with my last serenade. But it's full of really heavy and raw songs with beautiful interludes.
Jessies clean singing in this song is something else. At the 3minute mark is just :eyepop:

Sleep's Dopesmoker is definitely on par with a handful of Electric Wizard albums responsible for me owning one of the most ridiculous guitar amps of all time now. I just wanted that sound of god gargling a mouthful of bees and gravel.

I've noodled with guitars since high school (I'm 41now), but hearing Dragonaut one day (and Electric Wizard around the same time) lit a fire under my rear end and I started to get serious about recreating that sound I started to get serious about recreating that sound . Maybe it's a bit of a midlife crisis; but I've been practicing pretty steadily the past year and definitely getting better chops.

Here's my pathetic name dropping. I was in a poopy band in Michigan with two guys who then went on to be founding members of Black Dahlia Murder after that group dissolved. My fingers can't do guitar stuff that fast.

That's a badass story, are those guys still in the band? There's definitely more former TBDM members than current members these days, hehe. Here's my name drop story! When I lived in Austin, I bought weed a couple times from Bryan Ritchie, bassist for The Sword. This was riiiiiiight before they were plucked from relative obscurity (at least on a worldwide level) and started opening for Metallica around 2003. He was a friend of a friend, and a very nice dude during my limited time with him.

It's not my favorite but I absolutely love thrash, and I also got into it around ten years ago. Because embarrassing memories are impossible to forget, I remember accidentally talking about how awesome Rob Dukes-era Exodus was to Rob Dukes himself, and in hindsight I think he thought I was trying to suck up to him or something. This was at an Exodus show, which is the only reason I ever knew it was him. I just wanted to melt into the floor and die.

I saw them perform this at Emo's in Austin, can confirm it was a loving amazing show. The crowd was this awesomely weird mix of metalheads and boomers. A few smaller pits got started near the end of the show and it was funny seeing the older folk haul rear end out of the way.

His music changes a lot. Some of it is among my favorite music of all, some I wonder how it could have come from him.

These are two of his songs that I'd characterize as introspective metal. They also sound like...stepping into another world. I definitely get the feeling of an ocean storm in "Seventh Wave," with enormous waves crashing during the chorus.

In a decidedly different vein, this version of "Toxicity" has been among my most-played tracks of this year, particularly 3:00 onward. Instruments are on-point and the three singers' vocal ranges complement each other really well.
