I see this about her often. Or Courtney from Spiritbox. I don't want to suggest that flipping between screaming and singing is easy because both sides of that require lots of practice. I just think a lot of people equate harsh vocals with high volume and strained vocal cords but that is super not true. People like Tatiana could probably deliver those same distorted vocals at a speaking level. When people can't understand how singers like her can flip back and forth, I assume they don't know that you can (and SHOULD) achieve those sounds at a whisper level. That isn't crapping on them. It seriously sounds like massive screaming.

However, it still took him a moment to switch between dirty and clean, whereas Tatiana seems to be able to switch without that pause to adjust. That's what I find amazing about her.

I’ve been wanting to bump the metal thread to recommend a couple great underground metal collectives from Southern California that I have not seen discussed here: Rhinocervs, which I’m pretty sure is defunct now, and Black Twilight Circle which is still active. I discovered this stuff in the early 2010s and have been a fan ever since. Most of this stuff has a really raw aesthetic if you’re into that kind of thing and they do mostly cassette releases. Much like how Scandinavian black metal got inspiration from Norse/pagan mythology and, the bands adjacent to BTC do a similar thing but with ancient Mayan and indigenous Mexican imagery. I really dig this poo poo but I don’t really know how popular it is outside of SoCal metalheads so I wanted to share with the metal thread! Here’s a good breakdown of a bunch of the bands involved. http://www.metalstorm.net/pub/article.php?article_id=1816&page=1&message_id= Black Twilight Circle Volahn https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPQtAMUN3Pk Blue Hummingbird On The Left https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivmJrm6NpNI Muknal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnrK0K76S_w Rhinocervs compilation. I love the dark mystique of this stuff. Some of the bands don’t even have names, making it difficult to learn much about the people responsible for it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsizWB6GK3Q Have a brutal Christmas, metalgoons.

I started dating a girl in July who tolerates my metal stuff but isn't full in on Opeth, High on Fire, Sleep and Electric Wizard. I was talking poo poo about Mastodon losing their metal edge and turning into a boy band that cares about vocal harmonies more than anything and then remembered she was in choir, so I got my EDM and blues/soul girlfriend into metal with Crack the Skye because, "they like singing!" I really want to like The Body but all I can hear is that screaming goat meme from a few years ago and it completely takes me out of it. I can dig screaming/wailing vocals in black metal, but for some reason in The Body it just reminds me of that bloody goat and it spoils it all for me. It’s a shame because the rest of the music is great
