With the shrinking of both the draft and the minors, a lot of possible talent that could have been developed in prior years will end up going to another sport or go get a regular job. Which is bad for the game. And it's all so that teams can save the equivalent of a rounding error on their cost sheet per year.

The sad thing is, the Veterans' Committee meeting that could have put him in the Hall got postponed until next year. The last time around, he fell one vote shy of induction.

He's had health problems before, but I don't understand why you cut bait on a guy who has actually performed fine other than in the abbreviated 2020 season. He also only signed for $3 million which is nothing.

I remember in 2010 they drafted a guy named Hayden Simpson in the first round who not even the guys who know all of the prospects had a profile on. He only had 3 professional seasons and never reached AA. The Cubs took him ahead of Christian Yelich and Noah Syndergaard.
