facialimpediment posted:Not really, he's just a chameleon zone-flooder. He has the ability to rhetorically shift between hard-right wingnut chud and slightly-creepy Republican normie Senator. He's below replacement-level and ran way behind DeWine (governor) in Ohio: 62-37 to 53-47. His approval ratings still suck even after the debate when he chameleoned into "nice person" instead of "gently caress you and your cats at home I hope I get to revoke your right to vote". I'd say Vance is the scarier one to have in charge for the simple fact that he would absolutely be the puppet. Donnie's dementia and ego means he's a difficult, if not impossible to control puppet. His ego made it hard to outright control him earlier, having to influence him instead, and his dementia makes it harder to control him by stroking his ego in just the right ways.

vance has already shown that he has zero spine with his casual flip-flop from "donald trump is hitler" to being his literal running mate, and otehrwise just completly flipping on any principle i don't think the guy's too terribly charismatic, he couldn't even manage to visit a donut shop properly. but he'd be a useful idiot, and one who wouldn't be as prone to sudden outbursts as the big orange guy

There's plenty of reasons to hate the French their dogs aren't one of them, unlike the British. Poodle hate makes me sad, the few I've met have been very friendly goofballs. As for the unloading, figures a post LaPierre NRA wouldn't know poo poo about firearms, money laundering scam that it is now.

Platystemon posted:The NRA hates gun owners. Of course the NRA wouldn't know how to unload a shotgun without cycling the rounds through the chamber. I was taught how to do that as part of weapon familiarization for armed watch in the USN. Turns out small arms instructors frown mightily if you chamber a round at the clearing barrel, so don't do that (I did not do that, but a billy-bob motherfucker did chamber a round at the clearing barrel and got ate the gently caress up for it). Turns out not knowing poo poo about firearms means you don't have bad habits to unlearn when it comes to learning how to use them in the military!

Are there only twenty-nine? Maybe. So more like the top fifth. There are a lot of them that would wilt worse than him on stage though. He’s not legendarily bad, like Palin level. I think that Vance’s challenge to becoming the heir of MAGA will have more to do with his (paucity of) relationships within the party, and the curse that keeps any one person from staying in Trump’s orbit for long.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88_Io_NOwuY Dunno if this is something you've seen yet but Donnie Diap used the words "We didn't have guns, the others (Capitol Police) had guns" in reference to Jan 6. Dude just self-incriminated while hunting for his rear end with both hands when answering a question.

I don't mean to go after you, it's more just because it keeps leading me to post funny links: JD Vance is more unpopular than Sarah Palin and he's still underwater by -9 as of today on a little bit higher numbers for both. Walz is still the most popular politician on either ticket, though with more undecided. Palin was obviously not ready and wilted, JD is obviously more ready and turns off anyone that listens to him talk. I can't really weigh in fully to the who's worse? discussion because that's basically asking me which leg I would prefer to have blown off.

They haven't done anything meaningful for gun rights in a very long time besides fundraise off of fears of gun control. The best thing that could happen would be if the NRA went back to being a gun safety and training organization and left lobbying to better, less cringy groups.

I swept the magazine release somehow and my mag dropped *plop*. I automatically indexed in a new magazine without lowering my weapon and got tackled and yelled at for a bit by the range master. When he stopped yelling at me we talked for a bit and he let me retry the stage and I passed.

To be fair the Berettas and the M500s we had were both tired as gently caress, I had issues unloading an M500 at the clearing barrel more than once due to shells hanging thanks to a sticky ejector mechanism blocking dropping the shell out the side rather than chambering it. It is a bit problematic when you rack the slide back and tilt the weapon and then the shotgun is like "oh, you wanted that shell? nope, not letting it out, the only way out is through the chamber" and you and the guy on the barrel are scratching your head for a minute trying to figure out how to un-jam it without feeding the round into the chamber or making the jam worse.

I only learned that I kept getting hang fires because my giant meat thumbs were hitting the magazine release when I dropped a mag during pistol qual. I'm still mad about the time I put an entire shell, wadding included, through a target's neck during the hipfire portion of the M500 qual, and had it counted as a single hit.

Pro-Trump dark money network tied to Elon Musk behind fake pro-Harris campaign schemequote:An initiative called Progress 2028 that purports to be Kamala Harris’ liberal counter to the conservative Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 is actually run by a dark money network supporting former President Donald Trump. quote:Some of the policies listed in Progress 2028 highlight disproven and misleading claims about Harris’ positions.
