2020 seemed like it was a truck or boat parade, or "I love my big orange gorilla and want to wear all my MAGA poo poo"/MAGA pride rally every week, whereas this feels more :effort:.

The antivaxxer garbage caused the reactionary upper middle class to get culled in a highly targeted way I don't think has any historical equivalent. All the surviving trumpers are now 4 years older, and young ones that would replace the older ones are incoherent 4/8/wizard channer nazis, as likely to take a shot at them as vote for them. Enough of them have also been arrested by feds that they no longer think they're invulnerable (Fash are cowards but thinking you are immune to consequences is a powerful substitute for bravery). People like JD Vance are the future of the party, lol.

Secondly, and even the right complained about this among themselves, Trump is an exhausting dude. He's an evil genie that takes and takes even if you're nominally on his 'side', especially when one's only wish is for the libs to get owned in a funny way that turns them into triggered crying soyjaks. The american right has, thankfully, shot enough of its energy that its no longer 'inevitable', especially when the DNC finally got the brainwave to stop running a half-corpse against him.

for one, it's poor form to actually get caught saying it

The entire current republican intra-party struggle of the moment is them wanting to say the quiet parts out loud and getting off on it when everyone else including their own party screams at them. They want polite suit wearing right wingers saying the exact same thing unhinged street nazis say in their exact words. The republicans with an ounce of self preservation are pretty upset about it all but forever and ever ratcheting up the crazy and escalating is apparently the plan now.

You need to layer your anti-ads and anti-trackers on youtube. I've been able to avoid that stuff thankfully. Ghostery+No Script+ublock+canvas blocker+disconnect+privacy badger+grease monkey with some scripts on mozilla seems to have solved the ads garbage.

If that seems like an absurd amount of effort needed to just avoid having ads shoved in front of one's eyeballs, it is, it sucks.

Youtube periodically does something that bypasses ublock until the latter patches it. I don't care if avoiding tracking is impossible so long as I can poison enough data along the way. When I do receive targeted ads its for something completely unrelated to anything I do or am or want, so I'm gonna consider it successful enough even if its theoretically impossible to bat 1.000.

Paying for stuff isn't an option due to being poor and also I am full of spite and refuse to give money for something that was enshitified.

The way a friend of mine put it is that these dicks are absolutely willing to kill for their beliefs, but they are not willing to die for them.

A few (too few) of the jan 6th shitheads going to jail popped the trumo people's notion that they were immune to consequences. That scattered them even harder than his electoral loss. The more die-hard ones have weeded themselves out, either by refusing to get vaccinated for covid or capering dumbass poo poo like the dude who fired a nailgun into the bulletresistant glass of a fed building and texted that they were going to take away his account as opposed to, well, gunning him down.

Yes, as compared to the dems who cut off the primary threat once AOC pulled it off. Its wild how hard the 'primary-from-the-left' strategy was strangled in the womb. The progressive 2016-19 alumni had a few winners and a lot of unviable losers. Its frustrating that the mechanisms for pulling leftwards nationally are a lot more feeble compared to the social forces giving us Two Black Hitlers.

Yeah the divorce wave of the 80s was the divorce taboo finally lifting and lots of people escaping unhappy marriages because prior to like, gen xers, getting married was an expected part of entering adulthood, instead of its current status of being the capstone on an already established stable long term relationship (ideally).
