Maybe it's from already voting a few weeks back, or the months of Covid isolation, or the fact that we've still got Trump for another two months regardless of the outcome, it just seems unreal somehow. I feel the same way. It’s just another saga in a long line of 2020 sagas, from COVID to having federal LEOs terrorizing DC and other cities to COVID again to now. Just another drop in the bucket although this one could be the deluge we’ve been bracing for.

That this wasn’t the blowout for Biden has been disturbing. I think that even if he does squeak out a win, and assuming that the Supreme Court isn’t gearing up to gently caress the country sideways, he’s not going to have the mandate to get past how thoroughly the well will be poisoned by Trump and Fox News as they shriek about fraud in the coming days. I think that a best case scenario still has us in for some rough, polarized and potentially violently contentious times even if Biden wins.

The highlight of my time in Africa was organizing a sunset cruise for a bunch of UN security pros on Lake Victoria outside of Entebbe.
