Mmmmhhh...new-thread smell. Here's an image of a stupidly long chud-parade that genuinely has me worried for tomorrow. https://twitter.com/redwins3_first/status/1322699901747236867 Oh god, I said "tomorrow".

It's November 3rd 2020, I woke up at 4:30 AM, and I'm planning to go to bed early to get this poo poo over with faster(tm) Although I'm already so restless, I'm not sure I'll actually be able to fall asleep without having a couple of beers or diphenhydramine. If Trump wins tomorrow, I think I'm gonna stay away from booze for a bit.

What are y'all using as an "all-in-one" result aggregator, if there's something like that at all? I went through the GiP Election GDT again and most folks (including myself) kept posting that graphic with the three dials (popular vote, electoral count, probability to win) from NYT I think, but surely, when we have massively-interactive map-data-apps and overviews for Corona, there's something like that for the 2020 election results as well? I'm currently clicking my way through 538 looking for something like that. /edit: I guess this overview from CNN has most of the relevant information https://edition.cnn.com/election/2020/results/president

We just got told our client is reducing the call-offs for next year from 6 (people) to 2.5 in our team due to ![]() ![]() ![]() What pisses me off massively is that the order for 2021 should have been signed at the end of April, which would have meant that the client would have had a contractual cap on signed-order call-off reduction of 15%, or 5 instead of 6 people, but they kicked that can down the road long enough to see how much they'd have to cut in other areas, so now they're not limited by the hard-cap and are going "man, we sure are sorry about these corona cutbacks". Also, it means someone else on this team isn't getting the boot for good after coasting like you wouldn't believe for the entire year, but will be rotated into another project, and that almost pisses me off more, because I've apparently become more of a poo poo person throughout this year while dealing with them. gently caress. This day is off to a good loving start. I'd say it can only get better, but...welp Opening a beer.

In more thread-relevant posting: when do the results start "trickling in" roughly?

Mr. Nice! posted:7PM EST is when you’ll start to see results as polls close. Yeah, I wasn't planning on staying up through the night to watch the polls close, I figured maybe there'd be results from early voting that could be available before polls close, but I guess I'm just gonna have some more beers, clean my apartment, and then watch this poo poo unfold as I get up at 5 in the morning.

We don't have a word for the emotion, but the medical term for said combination of symptoms is "Formloser Stuhl". I'll see y'all on the other side in 8 hours.

Cyks posted:Yep. It looks safe to say it'll come down to whoever can grab two of those states, but we won't know tonight. But isn't that the issue? Didn't Trump want to just "call it" if he gets close and then use the courts to stop the counting or something, idk? I'm gonna drive up to my parents to switch to my winter tires, and then back to Munich, so I'm giving myself 5-6 hours of respite from this shitshow.

Hang on, going by the update on FOX' own website:![]() Biden is at 238 electoral votes, and has a high probability of winning Nevada, Michigan and Wisconsin, which total 32 electoral votes...so that would be 270...?

Arven posted:It's not over, but it's going to be close. If things hold as they are he either needs to win MI (probable), PA (tossup), or GA (unlikely). Where's FOX getting that 95% chance to win for Biden in MI from? I'm confused

|
I'm still not entirely convinced this is done and dusted, but it just occurred to me...if this trend continues...Trump is never going to concede
|
![]() |
|
I was promised this poo poo was close, but still done and over for Trump. Now you're telling me libertarians stole the lead in Michigan, PA may be closer than expected even with the absentee ballots, AZ may actually not have flipped and what's with Nevada again?
|
![]() |
|
Biden's lead in Nevada appears to have narrowed to about 8,000 votes, so I'm a bit confused how the absentee ballots being counted are supposed to be in his favor?

|
^^^ Oh, my bad then. I thought it was larger, but I guess I may have confused NV with some other state then? Sooooo...can we expect a definitive result in Nevada by what, noon Eastern time when someone from Clark County is making a statement? I have so many people over here asking me "what the gently caress", and my response is "uh...poo poo's hosed, it's kinda trending towards Biden but there's also no indication that we'll have an answer today, and this poo poo may also go on as long as the 2000 election did, sooo welp"

facialimpediment posted:Here's your answer: we'll probably know by the end of Friday. It won't be a 2000 election multiple-month recount situation. All of this poo poo is done when Pennsylvania starts fully posting their counts and then all of the GA/NV/AZ stuff doesn't matter anymore. Data people are looking at *actual* vote counts now, not bullshit polls, and everything they're seeing points to a clear Pennsylvania Biden victory. I'm starting to get that feeling again... I told myself I wouldn't get my hopes up lest I be disappointed, but y'all posting like this...

Georgia stream is still down for me, and the Nevada stream has been running ads for 20 minutes. Am I just missing this, or have they delayed the conference?

FOX just had the press conference for Foulton County, GA on and the pundits followed it with "At this point, Donald Trump basically has to run the table and come from behind with a straight flush". They then said that the majority of the open races will probably be called within the next 4-8 hours. /edit: They then followed it up with some Trump tweets on voter fraud and how Twitter flagged those tweets ![]()

UP THE BUM NO BABY posted:The Vietnam documentary is pretty good but starts from a flawed premise about the legitimacy of the Republic of Vietnam, doesn't speak much to the common brutality faced by the Vietnamese people, and undersells the war crimes perpetrated by Americans, especially by focusing so much on My Lai when it was in no way an aberration or out of the normal for operations in Vietnam. I think my biggest problem with it is that it's probably one of the more watchable documentary series about Vietnam but it misses the mark quite a bit imho I had this very talk on Discord the other day. I don't think anyone believes that The Vietnam War is a 100% "authentic" take on the war, not just because documentaries will always have some form of bias, but also because it starts from an "incomplete" explanation of the situation in Indochina post-French-occupation, but that said, it's really the "best" piece about it out there, especially since it's the most extensive that I've ever seen. I agree about the whole "singling out" the My Lai massacre from a documentary standpoint, since its the only time that the war crimes really take the spotlight in an episode, but there's a whole ton of poo poo about atrocities covered from the point of view of the people interviewed in the series, it's just not really in the spotlight.

facialimpediment posted:Don't be. Donnie called the 2016/2018 elections rigged and stolen. Everyone's generally exhausted and his protests aren't even that big. I'm not so much worried about the results being unimpeachable from a judiciary standpoint, I'm worried about the amount of damage his toxic loving antics over the next couple of weeks / until January might cause. 70 million people voted for the fascist Neonazi-sympathizer, and that fascist Neonazi-sympathizer looks like he's going to keep spewing poo poo to his willing listeners and pour oil on the fire. I wish I could take a breather and take solace in the fact that it looks like that the result is set in stone from a democratic perspective, but with all the abhorrent and atrocious poo poo this administration has pulled, I have no doubt they'll pull out the stops and keep surprising everyone over the next two months at how many stops they're willing to pull to one-up themselves. The one hope I've had since roughly 24/36 hours ago was that other GOP-functionaries in power would come out and essentially take wind from his sails, but the closest I've seen in that regard is Lindsey Graham guardedly suggesting that Trump should provide evidence for his claims of fraud and "let it be decided by the American people" (which is not just not helping, but reinforcing that this is not in the hands of the courts), and Mitch McConnell saying that "all legal votes should be counted and the illegal ones should be disregarded", which - again - is just fanning the flames. These spineless shits almost have me worried about the situation more than Trump going on yet-another embarrassing meltdown.
