I expect it to be pretty quiet, hopefully the polls close on time, and I can go home and drown my anxieties in beer. Wife and I have decided that if Trump wins reelection we are probably going to start hoarding money to relocate, my company has offices all over the EU, so I'm sure I can beg my way into one. If we can't go do overseas, then we are gonna look at moving into New England, at least then we can sneak into Canada easier!!!

Just got back from 12 hours as a poll watcher. The precinct was slow and rural. We had a little under 300 votes today, and I would bet a lot of money that maybe five people voted for Biden. Also nobody wore masks, so I'm probably gonna get Covid... The good news is, at least in Colorado, the system works. Every person that came in to vote was able to cast a ballot, minus one dude who thought he could vote even though he wasn't a resident here, or registered for that matter.

They are saying the exact same thing. sometimes my doomscrolling takes me to r/conservative, and holy poo poo, it's like bizarro world, enough that it makes me think I'm losing my mind because I cannot, for the life of me, fathom what the gently caress they are on about, on anything. Like last week, they were saying that Wheezy coming out for Trump would give him like 30% of the black vote????

Jaguars! posted:I think fear has a lot to do with it. In 2016 they may not have cared enough to vote for unpalatable candidates. Now the media and friends they listen to are constantly telling them that the right people are in charge but they are also aware on some level that the country is dissolving into unrest and sickness even if they can't acknowledge it. That gets them out and voting. I saw a guy wearing a "Space Force" hat with Trump's signature embroidered on it, and another dude with a Trump Train hat. It might be a little bit of fear, but it's also a lot bit of being part of a club, especially on that lets you do a racism every now and then.

There is still a ton of work to do to fix things, and it's probably going to get worse. Having said that, there are a few things that change for the better the minute Biden takes over, like every single one of Trump's cabinet members losing their jobs. Our education system was rough before Trump, but Betsy DeVos waged a war against public schools, and it stops Trump's patriotic education plan dead in its tracks. Also Biden can reverse every single one of Trump's ghoulish anti-environment EOs. Like the Arctic drilling ones, and selling public land. People need to stay engaged, and force progressive candidates at the local level, and Trumpism isn't going away anytime soon, so that's going to be a force to fight, Biden isn't the solution, but he is a hell of a lot better than the alternative.

This is my new big fear, that Biden is gonna pull a Gerry Ford. Is this a thing to bug my congress critters about? How does a person let the President-elect know that this is a lovely idea?

Usually with a really low budget production and the host is a sophomore in Broadcast but it's something. no, NPR isn't left. I really liked when Sam Seder was out for Mike Thernovich's blood, that was funny, too bad most of the time he is up his own rear end pretty far. I don't really get how the younger conservative hosts get a following, most of these guys are painfully unfunny, and they don't bring anything to the table Mike Savage and Rush aren't already doing. Like Dave Rubin and Baked Alaska are racing to be the most cringey fucks on YouTube.
