Year 3 of keeping track of draft predictions, and frankly I am surprised this big dumb forum is still going. This is a chance to put your predictions in stone, a feat of bravery in the 21st century. We know where drafted players were picked, we have ideas on what lineups might sort of look like, and we all have lots of faith in Anthony Edwards as a sterling example of a #1 overall. The idea is to post your opinions, no matter how ill-informed, on how the recently drafted class will pan out with the information we have today.

All days are nights to see till I see thee; and nights bright days when dreams do show me thee.
Overall I feel a lot less good about projections this year than usual.

Which 8 players will have the best career (regardless of draft position)
Tiering:

LeMelo Ball
Okongwu (might take him a bit, he might be one of those guys who gets overrated for a little while before coming into his own)
Killian Hayes

Vassell
Haliburton
Bolmaro (eventually)

Anthony Edwards (Big bust potential, but I am being POSITIVE!)
Wiseman (he'll probably get unfair expectations going #2 but I think he'll be decent).

Which 3 guys taken in the lottery (top 14) will bust?
Patrick Williams
Aaron Nesmith
Deni Avdija (I think he'll be ok, but maybe have a middling career and leave the NBA early for Euroleague or something)

he wasn't a lottery pick, but putting Poku here as an honorable mention. He was a very good pick for where he got him, but he's either going to be really, really good or bust, with strong odds on the latter. Hope I am wrong.

Which 3 players outside the lottery (top 14) will have the best career?
Balmaro
Bane
Cole Anthony (if he can stay healthy)

ROY Prediction (feel free to put up to your top 3 in order)?
This is going to be a weird year. I think a lot of teams will load manage/shelve rookies.

LaMelo Ball
Hayes
Haliburton

Who will win the MCW award for best rookie numbers despite being bad?

Make the predictions anyway, throw darts at a board.

I think you're right about Vassell, I think he'll be good but probably be more of a low-scoring complementary piece at first. ROY track PPG really, really closely. (which doesn't track with my melo pick.....)

I am generally of the opinion that Vassell has a lot more offensive upside than he gets credit for and I don't expect it to be a particularly great year for rookies generally.

I know this has been litigated endlessly by people much more informed and smarter than me in the draft thread, but I’m way out on LaMelo, he’s going to bust because of his shooting. His form makes me want to vomit, and contrary to dumb podcaster belief, it’s actually a bad thing to have no hesitation if you don’t know how to shoot.

I don’t know enough to answer the other questions except to agree with the previous post about obi toppin winning the annual knicks award.

He went to one of the few places where I think he will work out fine but I still think he's probably just a backup center and eh. If you could have guranteed me he'd wind up with the Heat or Raptors I probably would have had him in the late first instead of the early second though.

I am excited that people think LaMelo will be good. The Hornets draft picks have been bad so long.

The talking heads all think LaMelo can't shoot for poo poo, which seems important?

MourningView

Is this Heaven?
His form is goofy but I don't think it's totally unworkable, he has very good touch. The biggest issue with his shooting has been shot selection, which can get ironed out. For better or worse he's always been allowed to try whatever he wanted which leads to one dumb deep pull up attempts. As long as he can get up into the low 30% range he should be fine, being willing to pull up from anywhere means teams will guard him even if he's not shooting a super high percentage which opens other things up. I would be more worried about his defense than his shooting

He was hurt early and they have too many similar guys but he was good once they started actually playing him. He has looked awesome by rookie big standards in the playoffs, he even managed to not get bulldozed by Embiid relatively well which would have been my big worry about him on defense going into the league just because of the relative lack of size. He's gonna be really good.

Other than being way to low on Ant I feel okay about mine. I guess I also let myself get too caught up in Hali not having big star power. I knew he'd been at least pretty good so I should have had him towards the bottom of the best list.

I didn't like Obi at all relative to where he was usually mocked but I thought he'd be a good stats/bad team guy and was wrong on both parts lol.

Yeah typically a long time starter/sixth man is the 4th or 5th best player in a given draft. If you’re sure a guy is going to be like, Courtney Lee or Jae Crowder he’s a top 10 player actually (not to say he should be drafted top 10)

I think a lot of us were sort of stuck on old paradigms and ghosts of Wiggins on Ant Man. Now a strong athlete who can attack like that doesn't need 3 years to look good. He was always stronger and thicker than Wiggins, who's more of an ambush viper and less of a lion attacking wildebeest. He needs half a season of bumbling around like a blind man before he starts jetpacking over people. Strength with popcorn legs is an incredibly potent combo in spread out contemporary NBA

to be fair their rookie seasons still weren't really that different on the whole, though Edwards shot way more threes which is probably good long term
