The "Williams went #4 and Barnes is better" thing seems a bit disingenuous because last year's draft was kind of a free fall after the top 3 with the next tier of prospects all being eye of the beholder types. This one has had a pretty solid top 5 for some time

After Vlade got kicked to the curb there aren't a whole lot of blatantly stupid GMs around. Last year despite all the speculation, no one really paid a premium to move up, no one undervalued having a higher pick, and outside of Phoenix reaching on someone there weren't a ton of swerves in the lottery

I honestly don’t see how a whole lot of late first round picks nets you a star unless that star is DeMar DeRozan or OKC’s reclamation project of the season.
