Kiwami 2 on the new engine is truly mind blowing the first time you fire it up.
I really enjoyed the overhaul of combat, busting into restaurants and smashing people up with chairs only to get yelled at by the owner ftw. I like the Y7 combat so far but I hope they expand and refine on the K2 combat in other spinoffs, adding back the styles and stuff.

What was the end boss?

A roomba that didn't do much damage but took like 10 minutes of slowly beating up. Not the highlight of the game so far tbh but the occasional boring HP sack boss is a Yakuza tradition and at least this time I was probably underequipped

The quests to find and fight like 10 specific Sujimon suck a dog's rear end. I spent 20 minutes running around Koreatown and found one gambler. Do they unlock anything cool or can I ignore them safely

Lunchmeat Larry

I dunno how to approach 3-5, I want to play them all but don't want to get burned out and I get the impression 3 and 4 are the weakest and 5 is good but insanely long... it would feel wrong to just power through the main quests for 3 or 4 though

Lunchmeat Larry

I just got to that fight and beat it after a couple of tries but Jesus that was a difficulty spike... I'd beaten up to floor 20 on the battle arena so I figured I'd be fine

Yea lol if you have her and Eri he'll only attack the two dudes. I actually used that for a bit by having Adachi and Ichiban tank damage during rotations. I thought something was glitched at first until I put 2 and 2 together. I was just bummed that the Majima poundmate call doesn't do extra damage to kiryu
as soon as I realised that obviously Kiryu doesn't hit women other than small children, I put them both in my party and thought I was a genius. I immediately realised the flaw in this plan when, having only two targets, he immediately killed Ichiban in a couple of moves

Man the other cities are depressingly empty in 7... I was excited to get back to Kamurucho but there's nothing to do.

I don't like Ijincho as much at the moment, it feels kind of bland and doesn't have the same visual charm or style, but it's new and we've watched Kamurucho develop over like 7 games at this point

Same there are too many spaces with nothing to see. Similarly there are shops you use once before being too high level to bother with their wares and that’s kind of boring too.

True final. The first one was a breeze, even at level 75-80, but this one is truly destroying me. I do appreciate them overhauling the trophies to make the plat a bit more realistic compared to the rest of them (y0 was intensely brutal, judgement was also pretty hard), but this seems like a bit much.
Yeah it seems a bit silly. I'll prkbably do it but it seems like just the normal final tower with all the stats cranked up 10x, the combat doesn't really have the depth to make it interesting at that point lol

Is there a better way to make money towards the end of the game than the business mini game? It seems kind of obvious that the business is the best but the amount of time you have to put into it to get the $3m bonus after a shareholder meeting is crazy inconvenient once you get to the highest level of the workshop and every single upgrade costs between 1 and 4 million
do the first few floors of the battle arena a few times for golden bugs, then use them as crafting materials to make 7 Nouveau Riche Crowns and equip them on everyone, means you get double the money from battles - then just do the last 5-10 floors over a few times. You'll earn millions and also get loads of guaranteed drops of the weapons that sell for a million each. Also if you use the Megumi summon on the final fight that one gives you like 4 million by itself. I did it for like half an hour while pretending to be on work calls and earned 30 million

the early game is rough so buy loads of healing items and please use them, they seem expensive but once you're past the early game the cost is negligible and they're basically instant full heals

lol, i only played until i was 12. i was very bad at everything because i am stereoblind, but one game, the pitcher hit me with the ball three times in a row and the coach made a thinking-real-hard face and then hunkered down and really seriously said to me "okay. i'm gonna level with you here. you're a terrible batter. here's what you're going to do from now on. just stand there and get hit by the ball. you're like a ball magnet, it heads right for your face, it's amazing. so just stand there. don't swing at all." and that's what i did. suddenly, i was great at getting on base, and i was actually pretty good at running for my age, so i could steal bases a lot of the time.

the kids on the team nicknamed me Statue, and that made me even better, because i'd get up to the plate and they'd all yell "Sta-TUE! Sta-TUE! sta-TUE!!" and i'd glare at the pitcher intimidatingly. at 12, all the pitchers were like "drat, this dude has a nickname and everything! look at the icy glare!!" and it would gently caress them up, so i'd basically always walk, usually from getting beaned. eventually my team wasn't allowed to cheer anymore (we had a gustavo on our team, and every time he got up to bat we'd yell "Goose!!" and make loud honking noises until the other parents complained), and suddenly i was just a bad player, so i quit.
Fairly sure I heard Yakuza sidequest music playing as I read this post

Ichi is a perfect new protagonist yeah, what makes his goofiness work is that he's completely earnest and a bit naive in the same way as Kiryu - so he's a very different character but it isn't fourth wall breaking meta poo poo, he's believable and understandable.

If there's one thing I would say is that I think he should be a bit younger, he's older than Kiryu is in Y1 but comes across really young and inexperienced. Both characters have a big in-jail timeskip so it's hard not to compare. Characters talk about him as being part of the new generation of Yakuza and a rookie who's got a bright future ahead of him and it's like no this dude's fuckin old lol
