I won the top prize raffle at a church I used to work at. It was an all expense paid trip to Hilton Head. The church was homophobic so it was extra sweet to take my boyfriend and propose to him amongst the dunes at sunset. Other than that I once was lucky enough to win $500 off of a $1 scratch off lottery ticket when I was 18/19. I can totally understand how people can become gambling addicts. Still remember the high I felt when the clerk counted out my winnings; even remember how I had to tear myself away from the sparkling tickets under the glass counter.
