At 13 we'd go to the lan cafe nearby to play cs and poo poo. At the time those scary lady popping out of nowhere "memes" were around. I got my buddy to watch this one that was Wheres Waldo except there was no loving Waldo and when the old dead scary bitch came up and screamed, he was 2 inches away from the screen looking for some poo poo that wasnt there, straight yelped and fell backwards in his chair onto the ground and all the people playing CS and UT, hell even a business man in a suit buying a scone looked and laughed at his rear end lol

I loved Trouble in Terrorist Town a lot, apparently now it has lootboxes which sucks major rear end I also really enjoyed this russian as hell Half Life 1 mod called Paranoia that had all these seperate keys for putting on a gas mask, putting on a faceshield and a billion other things I could never figure out

Action half life was freakin cool, so was the specialists. The most recent mod I’ve played was basically a pirate CTF type of game. I don’t remember the name though. I’ll always fondly remember waking up on a Saturday morning and just browsing moddb and installing whatever looked cool, and there would always be people playing.

i've been playing ancient aliens in prboom+ but the interstitial text about smoking peoyote and knowing that the spirit of the eagle, bison, and coyote are with you even in space don't show up but they worked in gzdoom when i played it a few years ago [on hmp][with saves  ]. thanks for reading.

I played a lot of WC3 mods when I was in high school and went to LAN parties. Mostly DOTA, but also occasionally lovely rear end tower defenses or battle arena style games. One of my favorites was a battle arena map where you would make your own custom champ, it was called HeroCraft or something like that, but all the abilities could be invested in to the point where they were way overscaled. Every single one of my friends ended up making a stealthy glass cannon that attacked 10 times a second and I put all my stat and ability points into health and thorns with 125% damage return. It makes me smile thinking how long it took them to finally figure out how I was killing them instantly whenever they decided to attack me. I eventually got owned when they figured out they could create a 20 second stun and just kill me with indirect damage. It's a shame WC3 modding isn't and probably won't ever be a thing again.

While weapon/enemies wads can't match the true sublimity of original DooM balance, I'm partial to wwhc_diaz.wad. It adds on a bunch of really fun weapons with reload mechanics and a bunch of mostly human enemies to balance it out. Probably my all time favorite gameplay wad to play new megawads with twice a year.
