so, barring the possibility that Aaron Taylor-Johnson returns as Pietro at some point in the last four episodes, I wonder whether there's bad blood between him and Marvel or whether he just didn't want to return. more likely the latter though

I think it’s not necessarily either of those things, more that one of the few things that Wanda can’t do is bring someone back from the dead, so in order to bring him back she had to pull a version of Pietro from another universe. It would’ve been possible to cast Aaron Taylor-Johnson again but that wouldn’t make it as clear what she’s doing and wouldn’t have the same implications for the multiverse.

Plus the Evan Peters version is more popular anyway. I don’t know much about Taylor-Johnson but he’s only been in a couple things since Age of Ultron, I can’t imagine he wouldn’t want to return to the only role most people know him from.

This might be a stretch to think they planned this out in advance, but someone pointed out on Twitter that there might be a Doctor Strange connection to Wandavision.

- In Doctor Strange, when he goes to the "forbidden" section of the library there are two books missing. The one Kaecilius took and an unidentified second blank spot.
- The books in the forbidden section are stored on hexagonal mantles.
- The book in Agatha's basement looks like one of the forbidden books from Doctor Strange.
- The forbidden books in Doctor Strange all have some kind of symbol or decoration on the front without any text and Agatha's book also has a symbol in the same style with no text or title.

Doctor Strange came out during the season of Agents of SHIELD with the Darkhold (and when the show still had some very loose ties to what was happening in the MCU), and I remember people pointing to the missing book in that scene as a possible connection then too

I loved that season, the actress who played Aida was so good. In fact AoS S4, taken on its own, might be my favorite MCU thing to date.

It's not a line, though. It's the reason why Jimmy, who is based out of San Francisco, found himself in New Jersey in time for Wanda's shenanigans. Especially if part of the point is setting Jimmy up for future movies/shows, it'd be strange for him to end the show without actually coming back to his original motivation.

His motivation wasn't the missing person though, he only flew out there once he realized something strange was going on with the town. In the scene where he and Monica meet he says "Something seemed hinky to me, so I took the first flight out of Oakland to interface with local law enforcement".

It’d be real boring if every future MCU project is either another origin story or has to explain why it’s heroes weren’t fighting Thanos. I’d be fine if they don’t mention it at all.

Also that Avengers discussion bit definitely felt at odds with the rest of the footage, I wonder if it was specific filmed for the trailer

I think I read it will pull at least a little from the 2006 Neil Gaiman run of Eternals, which starts with the main character in that exact situation.

That’s the only Eternals comic I’ve read but it was pretty good, I’m looking forward to the film.

That was a good trailer, seems clear that all of the actual scenes shown are from the first act and then just brief glimpses of the rest of the film. Also Molina as Doc Ock was the best movie Spidey villain by a lot so super glad to see him.

Comfy Fleece Sweater posted:

Oh duh,I missed it at first but the main villain could be The Sinister Six, right? Ock, Goblin, Electro, Vulture and Mysterio have all been introduced, you only need Kraven.

I called multiverse Sinister Six back when the first casting rumors started circulating, would be neat if that came true

yeah as much as I love them in the comics, big stretchy hands would be really hard to pull off in live action without looking stupid. Plus Mr Fantastic is coming at some point and the powers are pretty similar. And like Oasx said, the writing and characterization is what’s important, not the specifics of how she punches people.

what an incredibly stupid take. :psyduck: That’s what she looked like before going through terragenesis and part of her first story arc is to stop using her powers to shape shift into Carol Danvers and just be herself.

(no way home spoiler) they weren't dead quite yet, they were sucked out of their realities right before dying and having the change of heart is supposedly enough to stop them from doing whatever it was that killed them when they get back. e.g. Doc Ock being free of the influence of the arms means he lets go or whatever and doesn't get sucked into the river

AoS season 4 (Ghost Rider/LMDs/Agents of Hydra) is up there with the best seasons of any Marvel show IMO, and most of the others are good with some great moments here and there (Quake launching Graviton into orbit is still one of my favorite moments in any superhero show). It would be neat to see some characters pop up in minor side roles (e.g. Fitz and Simmons as scientists in one or two scenes, no backstory necessary), but I doubt even that will happen and I'm fine with the show being its own separate thing.

Well, parts of it are, for sure. I'd say there are at least a couple of six-episode stretches that are better than Loki, Hawkeye, or maybe even TFATWS.

And then other stretches of the show are....not :v:

I liked the cast enough that even the lesser seasons were still fun watches. The first half of season 1 was the worst stretch since it spins it wheels and the characters , but being able to just plow through it and not wait so long between episodes like when it first aired probably makes it better. And then Bill Paxton shows up and kicks the show up a notch.

AoS season 4 is up there with the first seasons of DD/JJ IMO (different tone obviously), and season 5 has one of my favorite moments in any Marvel show or movie - Quake just loving launching Graviton into orbit
