For the bonus question: McDonagh and Maroon on TB.

Edit: also Coburn.

Correct on all three, and Coburn was also on the 2015 Tampa team.

To recap:

The Chicago Blackhawks and Tampa Bay Lightning will face off in their season opener in a rematch of the 2015 Stanley Cup Finals. 14 players are expected to be on the opening night roster who played in this series. Name them.

Hawks: Kane, Toews, Seabrook, Keith, and ??? (hint: he left and came back)
Bolts: Stamkos, Hedman, Killorn, Kucherov, Palat, Johnson, Coburn, ??? and ??? (hint: both were rookies that year)

Bonus question: Three players from each team have played in a Stanley Cup Final for another NHL team. Name them.
Hawks: ??? ??? ??? (hint: one signed this summer, the other two played for the same finals team)
Bolts: McDonagh, Maroon, and Coburnthis coming season.

Bringing this back up to the top, I think on the first one, was Paquette a rookie in 2015 or did he debut after?

Also I'll pose a question for the hell of it.

In 2018-19 Ivan Provorov, in his age 22 season, played over 25 minutes a game. Since the 05-06 season only six other players averaged 25+ a game in their age 22 or younger season. Who are they?

Some hints:

One did it once for the Panthers.
One did it twice for the Flames.
One did it once for the Kings.
One did it twice for the Senators.
One did it twice for the Coyotes.
One did it twice for the Sabres.

Ristolainen, Karlsson, Doughty, and OEL are all correct.

Risto did it in 15-16 and 16-17 with the Sabres, Karlsson in 11-12 and 12-13 with the Sens, OEL in 12-13 and 13-14 with the Yotes, and Doughty in 10-11 with the Kings.

Ekblad, Myers, and Hamilton have never actually hit 25 minutes in a season. Myers came close, averaging 25 minutes with the Sabres the year he was traded, but the Jets used him less and his season total ended up at 24:38 per game.

Did Brodie or Giordano do it?

Giordano was undrafted and I don't think established himself in the NHL until later.

The Flame is "Double" Dion Phaneuf before he was a comedy option.

I'm not sure on the Panther, so I'm gonna go with another comedy option and say Erik Gudbranson.

I dont know how old Bouwmeester was in 06 but he mightve qualified. Otherwise maybe Kulikov?

Yeah, Phaneuf is the correct answer, playing 25:40 as a 21-year old and 26:25 a game as a 22-year old. Brodie and Giordano both hit 25 minutes when they were older.

Spring Break My Heart posted:

And Bouwmeester is the final answer! He played 25:29 a game at the age of 22 with the Panthers in 05-06.

Now for a less question that requires less guesswork.

There have been 198 players who've played 1100 games or more in the NHL. 19 showed incredible loyalty and played their entire career with just one franchise.

However, six players who crossed the 1100 game threshold showed slightly less loyalty by playing each of their seasons with one franchise except for their final year. Can you name them?

(As an example: Ray Bourque played 21 seasons in Boston. However, he was traded to the Avalanche and ultimately won a cup with them and retired in 2001. He wouldn't count because he played parts of two seasons in Colorado, but would have had he retired after the 1999/00 season. If that makes sense.)

Mikko Koivu was 65 games shy of being the 7th player on this list*

*technically he never could've been as this season could only have been 56 games max but he's basically there if you remove the pandemic shortened seasons and/or lockouts.

Name the 3 players since 2000 to score 8 or more short-handed goals in a season.

Bonus question: Name the only 2 players to hit 7 since 2010.

Grabner?

Bolland had one season of 3, that's it. Grabner had two seasons of 6 but never 7.

For the 3 players with 8+, all of them had multiple 30 goal seasons so they weren't just defensive specialists. They are, however, varying degrees of successful as players.

The 2 with 7 since 2010 are both active and neither has a 30-goal season.

Bergeron? ROR? Getzlaf? Crosby?

Just guesses based solely on reputation.

I think Theo Fleury has the single season record but that was well before 2000.

To guess at some guys of yore:

Maltby? Damphousse? Lecavalier? Brad Richards? Drury? Briere? Forsbeg? Gange?

fawning deference
Jul 4, 2018

None of those are correct.

The single-season record is Mario (13). Gretzky and Lemieuz multiple times are the records, essentially.

Fleury hit 7 twice, including in 01-02. But not a trivia answer here.

You may have missed me saying that this is asking for 3 players who have hit 8+ SINCE 2000, and then 2 players who have hit 7 SINCE 2010.

All 3 players from the first question did it during the dead puck era.

One of them is the only player since the 88-89 season to score 9.

2002/03 by a Columbus player

You said they weren't defensive specialists, but that's exactly who my brain is going to! I have Draper and Maltby on my mind. For some reason, I imagine these are from good teams of the era.

Marian Hossa seems like one of the answers to me, and the other one that I think of when I think of former 30 goal scorers that played on the PK a lot is Alex Burrows, so I'm gonna lock those two in.

I'll do that when more people request it, it's too much of a hint.

Hossa's high was 7 in 05-06. Burrows had a season of 5. Neither is correct.

2 left - one was a small fast player who often had good SHG numbers and the other is a very underrated player who played an excellent 200-foot game, but is easy to forget.

Then, we have the two active players who have hit 7 since the 2009-10 season - one of them is old and I thought he retired already until this year.

Nope.

Neither one of these guys was a superstar, just very good players for a while. Neither ever hit 40 goals.

Another hint: both played for the Devils at one point in their careers (but not during these seasons).
