the fact that our entire world economy is essentially based on these stupid graphs with no zero on the y axis is one of the dumbest things about our dumb society

you could probably base a whole business on finding financial products with completely flat trendlines and then investing enough in them to make the graph look like it is falling/climibing vertically on a graph from μ±0.0001% and then tweeting and then posting a tweet screenshot to reddit

my apartment's laundry uses an rfid card that i could obviously get a writer for in order to get free laundry but i haven't done it for ~5 years at this point

surely the rfid is just an id that makes the machine check a specific row in a table somewhere, right? is there a well known admin rfid number or something?

I've fixed a few washers and dryers and they're surprisingly primitive machines. i was able to diagnose the issues just by listening and poking around inside (while unplugged).

my problems might have been easier-than-normal fixes though because it was a babysock in a forbidden area like 75% of the time

i knew it was going to fail but i am surprised by how many fronts it is failing on simultaneously

only a disruptive innovator like elmo could coordinate a mass exodus of ad buyers, huge loss in labor, and whatever this ftc poo poo is simultaneously

im really mad that at no point in this video did they explain:
* what the point of the robot was
* why they didn't just let it play with the children

idk what it is about EEs but every one i've worked with has been utterly comitted to "the robot is perfect, the environment is the problem"-type thinking when if they did any kind of site- or user-study they could've built a robot that did whatever dumb presumably-adtech thing this one does plus having a couple subroutines to entertain the only guests that are actually interested in interacting with it in the first place

i was imagining this exact same scenario with a car named "nogo" and i don't think any english speaker could care less aside from the fact that it kinda seems like it could be a slur

if anything can be defederated wtf is the point? this just seems like weird vibes-based database sharding that brings none of the benefits that a normal person would collocate with the word "federation"
