He got his start in a bunch of Korean dramas (HIGHLY recommend My Lovely Kim Sam Soon) and he’s fairly charming in them. Different genre but maybe it’ll make the scenes with (WOT spoilers) his love interest more obvious and fun.

I think they’re gonna need some kind of straightforward romance in the early seasons because the other relationships are pretty screwy... Rand’s eventual harem is pretty ridiculous and Perrin’s stuff won’t come for another few seasons or so (I really hated his relationship with Faile.)

I know British tv is cute and small but the BBC had nothing to do with The Bodyguard, Downton Abbey, and Mr. Selfridge. The new All Creatures show looks BBC as hell but that is on some other thing called Channel 5.

Bodyguard was a weird one in that it was a ITV production but for/shown on BBC1 for some reason..! Your point stands for the rest of them though, ITV and Channel 4 generally have nothing to do with the Beeb so automatically calling any UK show a BBC one is as silly as us calling all American ones an NBC show or whatever.

I figured they'd just play up the love triangle/square aspect of that before just being like "and everyone is fine with it now!" after a bit. Aviendha doesn't show up for at least a few books anyway.

And then of course there's Mat, and basically every part of his is... kinda sketchy, at best. So yeah you're right!

The decision to give him even a semi-redemption in the last episode was totally absurd but even in that context I don't know how you can watch his last scene and think, "this guy's making a good, smart decision that won't go horribly awry."

That comment is just nonsense.

Finn Wittrock has been cast as Guy Gardner for HBO Max's Green Lantern series. The article has more details on the series than I had seen before, mainly that it is going to take place over decades starting with Alan Scott in the 40s and moving forward in time with other Lanterns. Specifically Wittrock's Guy Gardner will be Earth's Green Lantern in the 1980s.

The older I get the less I can stand Guy, so sure why not who cares.

Kyle was my intro to comics GL anyway and John was my favorite in the Justice League cartoon, so it figures that DC would continue to ignore both of them. Probably better off that way anyhow.

Looks like the first 2 episodes of Apple TV's The Mosquito Coast with Justin Theroux are available. Anyone check it out yet?

I quite liked both the film and book and I just learned that Justin is the nephew of the author Paul Theroux.

I have not watched it but it is pretty dumb to have a "prequel" when the actress in the prequel is older than the actress in the original work.

Apparently the cast is great but the season is basically a really long premise pilot. I’m gonna give it a miss.

That's the story for a lot of the bars on the show. The changes lead to them losing regulars so they revert back pretty quickly.

Speaking of detective tv, I started L&O Organised Crime for background noise during work and it felt so dated (despite being about covid vaccine heists and making careful references to BLM throughout) that I figured I should just watch Wiseguy. Wiseguy is real real good for 80s serialized crime tv. Ken Wahl and Jonathan Banks killing it. And the main mobster speaks with the exact cadence of an italian Lance Reddick, its offputting. My only real memory of the show from way back is 'the Tim Curry dance scene' so looking forward to seeing that again.

My family watched Wiseguy when it aired, and it was truly my first taste of serialized TV. I don’t know if it holds up, but in my memory the first 2 seasons were some of the best TV in the 80’s. I still remember Sonny Steelgrave and the Nights in White Satin scene clear as day despite that’s it been over 30 years. I don’t remember Tim Curry, but I do remember Kevin Spacey and his sister. Another fun fact is they go to Johnson City, TN for a drug pickup and we were living there at the time. While JC is not a big city, it is for sure not the hillbilly one road town they made it out to be. I was kind of pissed at that (I am pretty sure I told this story on here before, but god I post on too many forums).

I also remember thinking why can’t more shows be serialized. Little did I know I would get my wish times a 1,000.

I think it does for the most part. They definitely wouldn't run it through 24 episode seasons now, the number of close calls Vinnie's had is making it appear very unlikely he's not a fed. His handlers keep not pulling him out because they've got secret hearts of gold and they like and trust him so much. That's exactly why you should pull him out damnit.
