the thing I don't understand about The Shield is why Vic needs money for his kids so badly. Wasnt he involved with the gangs and getting his cut? what happened to that? it doesnt really show him wasting money on anything

I thought two of his kids had autism and he wanted to send them to an expensive private school with more resources for that. I vaguely remember they had some anti-vax plot where Vic and Corinne want to sue the vaccine manufacturers, but then their lawyer friend tells them "no, that's loving stupid, you're just wasting your money" and then it's never brought up again. That was actually a pretty good resolution.

Also, he's a cop, so you know.

I never watched The Vow, but was NXIVM deliberately targeting sci-fi TV show actresses or were they just who happened to be closest to Allison Mack and her social circle, so easiest targets?

It's probably because a lot of those shows filmed in Vancouver.

I don't think it's fair to call it inoffensive. Sure it isn't The Wire, but a surprising amount of people die. Compared to dramas of today it can get pretty darn dark.

For real. I had to watch a lot of Little House and I thought it was some sappy feel-good family show at first, but I grew to like it quite a bit. It got surprisingly real sometimes. Mary losing her eyesight and then convincing herself that she was getting it back was just sad. Poor Mary, she got a pretty lovely deal overall.

The article also notes that Netflix shows typically, sigh, "bow" on Fridays so that's probably a factor as well.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets annoyed by this term.

Hmmm. All this White Lotus talk makes me think I need to check it out.

I hear Steve Zahn hangs dong?

It was apparently a body double with a prosthetic. He’s real good in it though, as is everyone else.

My prediction for who dies is Paula because the lightning is striking her on the poster and Rachel is way too obvious. Armond is a strong possibility too, but I just have a feeling it’s going to take a swerve and the body isn’t even connected to the whole ongoing Shane vs. Armond thing.

How does that work, did they stuff his corpse in a suitcase or something? Shane no repercussions for doing a murder?

In the montage at the end, they show Shane talking to the police and then walking off, so presumably they determined it wasn’t a crime and he was free to go. Who knows what kind of story he told them. A super rich white guy getting away with killing a dude isn’t exactly surprising anyway.

I know nobody watched this except for me but Betty got cancelled and I am VERY SAD ABOUT IT

Aw man, I started watching that a few months ago :(

It sucks but at the same time it feels pretty complete to me. It was nice to see such a female-focused and led show though, especially one with young women.

Watching Silent Sea, and LOL, Netflix is doubling down on the bad subtitles after the Squidgame controversy.

"I will be a team with him!"

I thought the Squid Game "controversy" was just that that one tiktok person had the english closed captioning on instead of the normal subtitles and didn't notice.

I had a friend who somehow watched the whole thing dubbed because she thought that was the only option. She was pretty pissed when she found out it wasn't and she listened to a lovely dub for no reason.

Episode 5 spoiler: Veronica Mars’ dad has shown up in day zero and theatrical troupe stuff and doesn’t appear to have aged

I really hope they weren't just reusing the actor and it's actually the same character and he was just wearing a bad wig and pretending to be Italian for some unexplained reason.

Lori Petty also looks exactly the same in the present day and when we first see her 18 years before, so maybe they just don't care that much about making everyone look old, which is fine by me. Lori Petty rules by the way, just in case anyone didn't know.
