Lmao I literally just finished the season and went to Twitter to check other people's thoughts and saw this.

Makes my time spent watching the show an even bigger waste than it felt. Some of the most atrocious pacing I have experienced in a show. They could have cut episodes 2-5 out completely. It would've been far better to do all of the 1920s stuff in one go rather than dragged out over the whole season.

Oh well, there are plenty of shows about evil-Superman out now that are doing this a million times better. Nothing of value has been lost.

First I've ever seen it used that way... how is it even meant to be said? Bow like the egyptian ranged weapon? Bow like the once lil Bow Wow? Bow like the gesture you make your enemies and subordinates do before addressing you to maintain the sociopolitical hierarchy?

Even worse here is in the sentence after they use "bowed" again, but in the way humans normally use that word, to say it's exiting something. That or they're intetionally doing some wordplay, which seems like cheating since they decided to use a made-up unclear definition of bow to make that wordplay even be.

Reading it in that context made me think it originated from nautical sense. Like is that a thing, launching a boat is 'bowing' it?

Also going back a bit, I rewatched Dirk Gently a couple of months ago and agree 100% with everything said. I would love some more but gently caress Max Landis. I love the aesthetics and performances in that version so much I can't bring myself to even try the Stephen Mangan version.

Finished Nightflyers last night, I thought it had some decent performances and got nicely freaky at points. Mashup of Event Horizon, Sunshine and 2001. I think it's a shame it got cancelled but a second season didn't seem hugely necessary.

Haven't seen any conversation about it apart from the cancellation, is that because it aired on SfFy a while ago whereas I only recently noticed it on Netflix.

The plot got a bit scattershot in the middle but with shows like Loki being way too short and not letting things breathe, I didn't mind a bit of flab to fill out a good 10 episodes.

For anyone worried about starting it, there is a resolution at the end and again I wasn't too heartbroken they weren't going to continue. Also if you've only watched the first episode, the bits you see at the beginning are developed upon and it's not quite what you think it will be.

Edit: Yea I should've checked, really old show - 2018! Anyway if you like horror sci-fi then I say give it a go

I didn't really like it. I don't think I ever saw a full episode of the original show (90s baby), so dislike not for incel reasons. The animation was nice but it was really short overall (5 episodes wtf) and it weirdly felt low stakes - especially after what happened in the last two episodes. All the different characters were cool, but obviously those are designs from back in the day. Reading up on what the original series was like wrt to the moral at the end of each episode, I guess it is a step up in terms of episodic plotting and general maturity.

I'll watch a second season but only 5 episodes really annoyed me - best be more next time.
