That's actually how they write these. [Insert joke here, but nothing too funny.] I remember reading something like that in an Abrahm's script treatment once.

Well that certainly sounds like JJ Abrams' writing anyway.

Like the John le Carre novel The Little Drummer Girl? I didn't know they made a show of that, The Night Manager was also good.

E: ^^^ yeah I thought that was the story too. That the writers hadn't intended that but he just decided to do it.

Mu Zeta posted:

He's boring in all his scenes and I think the show is still watchable because he eventually becomes one guy in a team. I watch the show for Michael Emerson, Sarah Shahi, Amy Acker, and the dog.

This. CavieIzel is by far the weakest part of that show, but the rest of the cast is just extremely good. Their cop collaborators were also great characters even. CavieIzel worked as a damaged stoic murder guy, and he had name recognition so he was the lead, but the show only worked because of the supporting cast.

Is it really only four episodes per book?

Although I guess one episode per book is more than enough as they go on.

If it's 4 on average they can easily give the early and later books more episodes by knocking out books like 8-11 in an episode each. Hell book 10, I think that's the one, it's only one scene worth of anything.

I assume they're making it look like an action movie because of marketing but I love the look of this

Can't say Ronon was who I pictured Duncan Idaho as, at all. Hopefully he's learned to act a bit since Game of Thrones.

It really did, but it was obvious it was going to be One of Those from the start. The setting was interesting and well enough executed to make up for it.

Yeah, of course. I think there were a lot of strong and vaguely hostile personalities on that show, Harmon included, and it produced an on-edge workplace. Not sure how that'll affect the movie that's being talked about again.

If this happens I'd prefer it just be Troy, Abed, and Annie at this point.

The Woodstock '99 doc rightfully placed blame partially on the frat culture but mostly on the greedy piss poor management of the event. It would be easy to put full blame on some idiot like Fred Durst but he only exacerbated what was already present. He deserves blame for not trying to calm it down as he was asked and for playing really terrible music but that's about the extent of blame that should be thrown his way.

Honestly, if you hire Fred Durst you know exactly what you're getting. It sounds like he just did a bog standard limp bizkit set. Full blame goes to the money grubbing shitlords managing it charging $4 for a bottle of water, not providing adequate toilets, and so on.

I lay it squarely on the shoulders of that fucker that blamed the sexual assaults on the women. I can't believe he had the gall to say "Well they shouldn't have taken their shirts off" right to the camera. gently caress that guy.

And also you know, gently caress Moby. Seems like he's an rear end in a top hat too, but for entirely different reasons.

Yeah I was pretty shocked to hear someone just flat out say, in 2021, "they were asking for it being dressed like that." On top of that it really sounds like they were selling the ppv show by showing a much of that as possible. Real class acts running that thing.

Moby had always been a pretentious rear end, he's only got like 1 good song too.

Doogie Howser is one of those shows that is referenced a lot, but I've never actually seen anyone talk about the actual content. Looking at the wikipedia page it sounds pretty serious in tone, and that looks like a Disney channel show so I dunno.

I remember it as being a slightly more serious sitcom, like blackish episodes that address social issues. I remember when he got robbed or something and bought a gun, then changed his mind about it, i forget why, he got spooked and pointed it at his mom or something maybe?

Did anyone catch Incorporated from a few years back? I'm on a cyberpunk kick and checked out the first episode last night. I'm guessing it's just a grab bag of cyberpunk cliches as it goes, but compared to most attempts at the genre on it a budget it seemed pretty solid. Then again, I'll be kind to anything that saves me from watching another episode of TekWar so maybe I'm not the most objective viewer.

It is just that grab bag for the most part, but it's good enough and deserved a second season.

Question, since I'm interested in watching it:
Would it appeal to people who have never seen the original series and have no connection to any of these characters or is it more of a "you get a lot more out of it by having seen all of the original show."

I never watched the cartoon as a kid, for instance.

I didn't either. The new one is fine but I'm sure you get more out of it if you're running on pure nostalgia.
