also kinescopes used to be a thing, too -- filmed on video, but had a copy shot on film by pointing a film camera at a studio monitor. as a matter of fact, that's how goodson/todman managed to keep their back library from the 50s

i just wanted to bring up that one of markie post's first gigs in show business was as a contestant coordinator for mark goodson/bill todman productions. she also served as one of the dealers during the jim perry run of card sharks.

Like, people think of the game show stereotypes of loud music, colorful set with lots of flashing lights, complicated rules, and overly caffeinated contestants. Whew treated every one of those qualities as part of a to-do list. And as far as I'm concerned, it works. Ain't figured out if it's in spite of or perhaps because of it, but either way it won me over. The IATSE voted to approve a strike, but they're acting like there is still room for negotiating. If it falls through, though, it looks like even the networks' fallback of game shows are gonna be affected by this. Yeah, game shows have been notoriously open shops since old man goodson's day, but they still have to have a union stagehand crank the mountain climber up the mountain whenever some dork is off by $500 on the price of an electric mixer.
