Finished Midnight Mass and I really enjoyed it. Although it was kind of goofy how nobody ever explicitly uses the word vampire.

Just once I want a timeloop movie or episode to have the exposition chat just be "You know, it's like Groundhog Day".

They did that on a timeloop episode of Legends of Tomorrow. Zari is the only character who realizes it is a loop so Nate tells her that next time it resets just tell him "Groundhog Day" and he'll be up to speed.

I reckon if I and the world just missed out on vampires, we'd call them "mosquito bats." or "leech bats," or possibly "tick bats?" Likewise probably be the same animals as the go-to when encountering vampires.

How vampirey are the vampires in midnight mass anyway? I think if I didn't know about vampires, I would never assume a lot of their big deals. "Undeath" as a concept wouldn't cross my mind, even if there were zombies as a reference. Vampires do too much talkin, and thinkin, and eatin, and fuckin, and sleeping for them to be considered anything other than alive with a really problematic diet. Wouldn't assume they'd burn or die in the sun, couldn't cross running water, had to count compulsively, garlic and gross avoidance, permission to enter. I would guess they are about as weak to being stabbed in the heart by wood as anyone, but probably would never think to do that to anyone specifically.

Well in Midnight Mass to actually become a vampire you have to die first so once it starts ramping up people are well aware that there's something monster-y going on. Although most of the actual vampire stuff happens over the course of one night so people don't have a ton of time to try out different things to find their weaknesses.

I've only watched a couple of episodes of SMASH so far and while the cartoons are certainly in the style of the originals one thing they're missing is animation errors. Although that might fall under the Dark Place problem where it would be more expensive to fake being bad than to just do it competently.

The season finale of Joe Pera was so good. It would be real funny if they come back and Gene is just stupid rich from his computer algorithm. Also I assume that a potential s4 would actually address the covid stuff seeing as they now have a plot of land/cabin out in the middle of nowhere to hunker down in.

Its very goofy how every time they introduce a new character in SMASH it is just Kyle Mooney in a new outfit.

NOW it's Law & Order. Sam Waterston has agreed to come back for at least the first season of the original Law & Order revival.

I finished watching SMASH and while I enjoyed it as a whole the back half felt underdeveloped. I think it could have used at least one more episode to dig into the new status quo between Treybor quitting and Skip's movie premiere.

Well, I imagine that's it for the theater/streaming co-release paradigm

DC was doing a Blue Beetle movie for HBO Max but they've changed it over to a theatrical release.

I saw an ad for a special event about Betty White's 100th birthday and part of the ad was showcasing the celebs they were going to have talk about her and one of them was Alex Trebek. Which just seems like maybe they should have taken his clip out seeing as he's been dead for over a year at this point.

Uh, okay? Despite leaving the show Jeff Garlin will still be appearing on The Goldbergs through the use of a stand in shot from behind and previously recorded/unused shots and dialogue.

They probably won't do it but I think it would be funny if for Toast's Star Wars plot they brought back Daisy Ridley with the idea that she was playing herself in that first season episode.

is the guy who is with clem fandango always the same dude? do they ever name him or is he there as just a silent accomplice to stephen torture?

IIRC the first time they do the recording studio they introduce everyone and Clem Fandango is actually just like an intern or something like that.

I thought Matrix 4 was really good in the beginning when it was messing around with what the idea of a Matrix sequel could be. Then the rest of the movie was kind of an uninteresting sequel to the Matrix.

I started listening to the Always Sunny podcast and it is pretty fun. Ostensibly it is supposed to be a rewatch podcast where Glenn, Rob and Charlie watch the show in order with each podcast episode being about each show episode but really it is just the three of them screwing for 30 minutes and sometimes talking about a related subject. That is if it doesn't get derailed like Glenn starting to talk about the first time he got drunk but instead Rob gets him to tell the story where Glenn (accidentally) hung himself at a Christian camp.
