Personally I think Dark Matter could have used an even harder retool because the actors were all fine but the characters and setting didn't do them any good. The episode where they end up in the past (our present day) was probably the best one because it made the characters have to actually act like human beings. Never seeing a single thing, not even an emblem or flag, for space Japan's enemy was peak no budget.

So do you think that's why Starz fired him? Because of the gay Djinn sex scene in season 1? He was fired from Star Trek for being extremely behind schedule and months late with the scripts. I heard he was attached to 2 more projects after American Gods, one of them being an Anne Rice vampire tv show, and was fired / left both of them too. Whatever problems they have are talked out and resolved. It's actually really refreshing, especially from the CW.
