If you enjoy that (it's only ~2 hours), you will enjoy the series as a whole, even if some is a slog. It does spoil some later reveals, as it was originally aired between season 4 and 5, but for me, in 1998, it made things easier to digest because I had a hint of where it was all heading!

So I was wondering, has there been a show where being retooled actually made it better? The examples I can think of are all worse. Star Trek: TNG would be a contender. Also Stargate SG1. What are all of the shows where people go "oh just get through the first 15 episodes and it gets really good!"

They do  short seasons, but these specials are what they do instead of feature films, iirc...edit: my wife was like "Q from Star Trek?" and I have never loved a woman or an idea more...

 The Knick and its score was one of my favorites of the decade! One of the few shows I went to the effort of owning on Bluray! Cinemax did a free trial where they put the first three episodes on HBO during the original run and...well...they got their  out of me. Show loving rules. Cocaine!
