I want this Mark Trail storyline to end with Mark burying "Cricket Bro" out in the desert.

Also, "Brotein" is SUCH a good name for a protein supplement.

I don't think this is a big spoiler when I say Aleta's going to stay in charge even when Val gets better.

However, I doubt they try to upsell fries anymore. I don't know for sure though because it's been a long time since I went through a drive-through.

If you order something not as a meal (like "Gimme a spicy chicken sandwich") they do generally ask if you want the meal or just the sandwich, but I think that's more "I'm trying to make sure your order is correct" rather than upselling. I've also had places ask me if I want a drink if I don't order one, that one does seem like upselling.

Indeed, although I can say that anyone who is tired of this part of the story will be pleased to know that Val will have regained his senses, such as they are, fairly soon.

What I get most often these days is after I've ordered my meal they'll ask "And what else can I get for you?" (as opposed to "will that complete your order" or even, "can I get you anything else".) That is definitely upselling.

Not sure what the lead time was in the 1950s, but the Senate Subcommittee On Internal Security (the Senate version of the more famous House Unamerican Activties Committee) had begin claiming widespread Communist infiltration of the American education system in 1952. That might line up with this strip.

I feel like there's a good way and a bad way you can do that gag.

One way is "Everett True tries to track down the sender because he tried to follow his advice and got personally injured."

The other is "Everett True tries to track down the sender because he dared to suggest Everett lay hands on his wife."

But enough of that! In today's Blueberry: Muriel gets upset with Blueberry, again, or Blueberry introduces General Crook to realpolitik, or While I first heard about execution by ants from The Far Side of all places, I understand it is much like the practice of scalping - over-stated for the sake of sensationalism, I rather suspect many people found the remains of dead people and made some very gruesome assumptions. But there does appear some evidence that this technique was not totally unknown to the Apache - and indeed, not even as torture. There are some native peoples in both North and South Americans who use ants as a type of trial of will, as opposed to a slow execution
