The idea that our government in its current form can "walk and chew bubblegum at the same time" is a loving joke and it's still only January. Congress is busy slap fighting in the halls and focusing on the impeachment that while it should happen is clearly eclipsing pretty much anything else they have going on. Joe himself gassed himself after like a day and a half on the job and yeah focusing on COVID is important, and rolling out the vaccine is going to take a lot of time and effort but he sure as hell isn't exactly doing a great job juggling other issues. I'm still somewhat giving him the benefit of the doubt that best case scenario the Trump administration left them with a mess and the scraps of a plan while most likely scenario actively hampered anything they had going when the writing was on the wall. It's just disheartening as gently caress to have the presidency, house and senate and then absolutely piss it away.

So having finally had the time to sit down behind a computer and not a phone and catch up on this thread, I want to say a couple things. First, mod hat off. Looks like "libs will get complacent after Biden wins and not actually do anything to hold his feet to the fire to keep him from reneging and/or going right" ended up being absolutely loving spot on. If you want to pretend that they didn't explicitly promise $2000 checks then you absolutely deserve what's coming down the pipeline when the Democrats roll over and capitulate to the goddamned minority party. Mod hat on. All I loving ask for is a place where people can disagree without being assholes about it. That's it.
