I think my first exposure to Ultraman was renting the snes game because the Power Rangers game wasnt in. It had the Zord bossfights but none of the onfoot sections fighting putties. I think it was a very early snes title so it was kinda crappy.

Ultraman and Adam West Batman are two of the best shows ever and everyone who hasn't watched them needs to treat themselves to a nice wholesome show.

Thanks thread for helping my reconcile what's missing from the new MST3K. There is something inimitable about comedy by midwesterners. Joel Hodgson tells a story about when the show started, they set up an answering machine, and were getting thick Fargo accent messages like, "Ohh, yahh, you boys are really on-ta somethin'"

Corbett and Murphy do a recurring skit I guess you could call the Muskie Fishermen when two characters are on screen, not doing anything but killing running time, where it's just a back of forth of

"Oh that's real nice there"
"Oh yeah"
"Yeah you betcha"
"Oh yeah you betcha there"
"Yeah"
"Oh yeah"
"Oh"
"Yeah"
"Yeah"

and it loving kills every time.

It's probably perspective but Matt Christman's brother has very short arms.

When you look like Josh/Matt, growing out the beard and shaving your head and switching to adult clothing will instantly 180° you from "giant hairy toddler" to completely normal, borderline fuckable man.

Your ironic t-shirts, shorts, and desperate clinging to your dying scalp are taking you down the dark path of sadness. Stop now.

Much like Vivian Vance’s contract for I Love Lucy, Josh’s RLM contract requires he be overweight.

It's a piece of JUNK!
There's nothing wrong with the idea of the old Jedi order being hypocritical/naïve/corrupt, the problem is all the characters in the PT are written and played at a completely surface level, so there's not really any way to discern something as nuanced as hypocrisy until a nerd tells you that's what was obviously happening and you're dumb for not seeing it.

Yeah, the idea of hypocritical Jedi are a 100% post-hoc justification created by fans to fill in the clear gaps in the prequels. It's on the same level as the people who have made elaborate arguments about why Star Wars has sound effects in space. ("The zooming sounds are created by speakers inside the ships, and act like 360 degree radar to help pilots sense what is around them!")

Like, Rian Johnson having Luke go from "what, am I gonna show up with my laser sword and defeat the whole First Order???" to actually showing up with a laser sword to defeat the whole First Order is a lot more planned and sensible than anything in the prequels. Too bad Mark Hamill is too dumb to understand what a 'character arc' is has spent all his time on Twitter reinforcing the ridiculous "Luke was sad and pathetic the whole time in TLJ" line. Like, Luke had to start the movie in a bad place to be able to then have something to overcome that makes his appearance to save the day worthwhile. Given how he's spoken in interviews, you get the feeling that Hamill wouldn't be satisfied with anything less than Luke being a full-on Poochie from the second he appeared in the sequel trilogy.

The only way to get huge fast is to insult a passing witch and hope she curses you with Beast-strength.

It’s like watching kabuki theater in a language you don’t speak, but written and directed by a child. You aren’t going to have any idea what’s happening, and that’s the correct response: you just shrug and move on. But because it’s named “Star Wars” a bunch of nerds spent two decades mining the text like rabbis to find some secret meaning.

In the alternate universe where all of TLJ is a 2-hour long version of the last scene from Season 2 of Mandalorian, this thread is complaining about why Luke didn't go save the day years ago and keep Han from getting killed and multiple planets from being blown up.

How about an alternative universe where TLJ is a vaguely-traditional second act of a third act structure in which the character beats make sense on both a moment to moment level and also as part of an over-arching story that follows protagonists in a struggle against an evil threat?

Because I'm willing to bet that one would go over just fine.

To be fair killing luke in the 2nd movie because he was so tuckered out from using force powers was lame as hell, but the force projection thing was actually good.

True, but in that alternate universe Mark Hamill would still be bitching on Twitter about how Luke was ruined.

I was going to joke about how the TNG videos clearly have a lot less viewership than their other content, but then I checked and amazingly they did pretty well. (The Season 1 TNG episode is the lowest-viewed of all of them, but it still has way move views than the Blood Shack/Chooper BotW.)

In the alternate universe Lucas completed the Star Wars story in the second movie and never made any SW video games.

He went on to lost a lot of money in a new sci-fi epic blockbuster and became a TV show producer. He married Marcia Lucas since 1969 and have 4 children.

edit: and we are trying to get back to that timeline.

Maybe people wouldn't have cared so much about Luke if they had cared more about the new characters.

Maybe the problem was making the major emotional beats in the first two movies of the new trilogy involve the characters from the previous trilogy instead of the new characters was a mistake.

:hmmyes:

The problem with the new trilogy is that all of the new characters are terrible (except Finn, who is tragically wasted on Casino Planet in TLJ, along with Rose who never even got a chance really)

So I guess we can blame everything on JJ Abrams after all!
