The only thing I remember about Jarhead is it's one of the most boring movies I've ever seen.

Also Jamie Foxx sucks and has his head way up his own rear end, even by actor standards.

Yeah, I was about to say that there is backstory in the book and there's a reason that the movies avoided it.

“In the version first published, [the Oompa-Loompas were] a tribe of 3,000 amiable black pygmies who have been imported by Mr. Willy Wonka from ‘the very deepest and darkest part of the African jungle where no white man had been before.’ Mr. Wonka keeps them in the factory, where they have replaced the sacked white workers. Wonka’s little slaves are delighted with their new circumstances, and particularly with their diet of chocolate. Before they lived on green caterpillars, beetles, eucalyptus leaves, ‘and the bark of the bong-bong tree.'”
[from Jeremy Treglown’s Roald Dahl: A Biography]

:yikes:

They didn't change the book until after the movie.

That's obviously problematic as hell, but iirc in the book it's also mentioned that the oompa loompas were constantly being hunted down and eaten by crazy wild beasts in their homeland.

That show's popularity mystified me, it's a comedy that isn't funny. That main guy is a charisma black hole, it's like if Ross from Friends was somehow more pathetic and the Canadian character jokes would be groaners in 1989. NPH being a pussy hound is not as hilarious as they seem to think.

Also Jason Segal's continued success in general defies logic.

The prequels and sequels are both fond of making the original films worse to shoehorn them into what they wanna do.

(and yeah I know the Emperor body jumped to like 8 clones in the books)

Fear Street's a pretty good slasher flick aside from the obnoxious soundtrack.

The characters got a lot more fleshed out than most horror movies bother to do which makes that scene with the bread slicer hit real hard.

I mean you can call it obnoxious but they hit exactly the tone they were going for imo.

Seeing the teaser for the sequel solidifies that.

Embarrassing poo poo, and I don't just mean dingdong dancing in the street. Sandman is a lovely bad guy but if your idiot director insists on doing the lovely bad guy just do it so the movie might be a little bit better. Sandman, Venom AND the "New Goblin?" What a mess.

I've legit never felt my skin crawling from embarrassment via a movie before, so it was innovative.
