find half in the bag episodes you skipped because they were movies you hadn't seen yet but have now, I've had a few of those lately like Parasite and Blade Runner 2049

There’s more footage of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker than any other role he ever played by far and they own that footage, I don’t see a rights problem there.

Like Natalie Portman is a good actress and she also denounces the lovely rear end right wing government of Israel so welp

Oh and it had a black guy whose entire character was to go “WHOA CAPTAIN HOL UP, UMMMM... excuse me dog??? Is you serious????” during dramatic moments and conversations because Americans can’t listen to serious consequential discourse in a fantasy show for more than 60 seconds anymore. Also, Seth Macfarlane hired an actress to be on the first season so that he could sleep with her for a few months.

Maybe I just can't loving stand the insanely cheap sets or something, Boardwalk Empire spoiled me.

1) alien civilization's values conflict with your own in an interesting way, creating a moral conflict poops are purple!!! we can use them as fuel!!! lol!!!
2) negotiations fail and the conflict becomes a stand-offbunch of confused, fast-talking dick jokes
3) tie in some personal drama with one or two of the main cast members, then one of them farts to break the tension... awkward!!!!
4) captain... what if we amplified the neutronic field frequency to stabilize the magnetic pulse? we could use the same technology from roboboy's synthetic wiener on the ship's phasers and restart the graviton core enough that it can run on its own power. it's like how old earth mechanics used to jumpstart old internal combustion earth engines back on old earth. Overly Self-aware Token Black Character: Ayo, that sounds crazy and I don't know wutchu sayin' but let's do it Cap!!
5) this solved this problem, but the essential moral dilemma still remains. I gaze ponderingly out into the vast field of stars and an uncertain but hopeful future and then fart
6) unconsenting child genital mutilation is *actually* culture, everyone!!

I can't speak to the quality because I've pnly seen maybe a dozen episodes of tng but literally all watching the orville did was make me think of tng

fixed, and I won't talk about it anymore because this is a boring derail and it's okay to have your own opinions

His extended cut of Watchmen is a pretty good example of why a 1:1 adaptation isn't always the best way to go, because it makes the changes all the more glaring. It's four hours long and has the Black Freighter storyline but still uses the idiotic "Dr Manhattan did the doomsday event" change that undercuts almost everything that freaked out the Comedian to begin with.

IMHO the change with Dr. Manhattan doomsday makes way more sense than the original comic's plotline so I was totally down with that change, and the Black Freighter stuff in the comic was pretty forgettable anyways

It has to be an outside threat with no discernable ties to any existing power for it to possibly work. Dr. Manhattan, even as disconnected as he becomes, is not that.

Basically everyone on Earth already hated and feared Manhattan and were united in that sense and the alien thing comes so insanely completely out of nowhere as if no one would ever question it that I think at least Manhattan making GBS threads all over his own country would make a lot more sense since now officially he's got no allies

edit: I get the "you deserved it" angle but an alien randomly blowing up NYC would be the same thing basically anyways

I was like "wait did I miss something? What is this?"

I would imagine theatergoers would probably also have that same feeling from such a sudden left turn into zanytown

It's more forgivable in the comic because of the setup, obviously, but in the movie I think it was the right decision, and I still think it would have worked in the comic just fine

The sad truth is that it's Fleetwood Mac's like 6th or 7th best known song and most of the popcorn-gobbling seat-fart-huffing public only recognize the first part, if at all. Even though the high energy ending is more appropriate, you want people to go "hurrr I heard that on the radio before"
