Modern blockbusters are all weirdly sex less. Kat Dennings ogling Thor in the first one is about the only scene in the MCU indicating a character even has a sexual identity. There's nothing in them that compares to like, the upside-down in the Raimi Spider-Man flick. Tony Stark's kid in Endgame is pretty much the only indication at least one of the Avengers had sex at least once.

Starlord starts GotG as a sex-haver but moves into the MCU standard relationship type where the most frequent physical activity partners share is holding hands. Kisses are strictly for dramatic purposes.

It's all good, she tweeted that she liked Avengers: Endgame. Which, while not based on Seven Samurais, is Forever hours long and the second part to a movie not much shorter. But culmination, I guess.

A cursory Google search has not turned up any merchandise featuring the gray gentlemen from Momo, and that's some bullshit. I had just explained to my son that I felt a bit like a gray gentleman from time to time and then rushed to the computer to look at all the ironic t-shirts they must surely be on, but I found nothing.

For those not familiar, they are the bad guys in a German children's book, and they eat time. They come for people dressed as bankers and they convince them to save time at their bank by not wasting their time, and then they smoke the time rolled up in cigars. They couldn't really be any less subtle and they own for it, and i am severely disappointed in the Internet for not having a dedicated fandom to them.

They should make a special edition where every piece of art the rebels hoard is replaced by slinkies. That sad scene with Sean Bean? Holding a slinky. I finally watched Justice League last year in prep for the Snyder Cut and like it wasn't the complete catastrophe people made it out to be, but the fact that it somehow cost $300 million to make and is one of the most expensive films of all time is absolutely insane. Like where did the loving money go? It looks maybe a slight step above the network TV DC shows with a script that's a slight step below the network TV DC shows.

I still haven't watched the Snyder Cut.

One of the many aspects that make the case so fascinating is that Snyder had his movie almost completely finished. That's where a lot of the money went, into a movie that was a bit shorter than the Snyder Cut, but pretty much completed. And then they decided it would be a good idea to let Joss Whedon do reshoots of, I think 70% of it, or something similarly insane.

Skwirl posted:

They cut a lot of poo poo and Whedon is a poo poo director, so what he replaced the cut material with looks fundamentally cheaper.

Like, have you seen Avengers? I don't hate it as much as I used to, but it fundamentally looks cheaper than most Marvel films, and that's saying something.

To be fair to Whedon, he had a bit of a Hobbit situation on his hands. He came late into the project, had a lot of pressure from the studio, all but defected to the enemy by doing a DC movie.

On the other hand he made working on his set hell for a bunch of people so gently caress him.

To me Hudson Hawk has the same energy as so many German-dubbed Bud Spencer & Terence Hill movies that were turned into absurd comedies by their dubbing studio. In fact it was very surprising to me that the movie is so weird in English too, cheesy remarks like the one with the hat convention were very popular at the time.
