Electric Phantasm posted:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_l5Wuv-2Pf4 it's ok. there's some fun ideas and cute designs and some of the characters are neat, but i got kinda bored with how character relationships are written and some of the jokes kinda suck. not in an abhorrent way but in a, there's one scene that's mildly weird about lesbians way

Electric Phantasm posted:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_l5Wuv-2Pf4 I like it well enough. For me the manga kind of feels like someone took Maidragon, inverted the premise, and gave it lower highs but also less gross lolicon/shotacon stuff. Hits some similar kind of Fantastical Found Family buttons. Nothing to lose my mind over but good enough that I'll give the show a look at least.

I just read the latest update and I'm not quite sure I could explain what the point of the story is, other than "a thing happens, the witch reluctantly resolves it, a new girl joins her family" rinse, repeat. It's decent, but not particularly exciting and honestly feels like it's just been treading water for a while now. That being said, the anime would at least be covering the early parts of the story before things got stale, so it should be worth taking a look at.

I like the light novel enough as quick filler even if the lead does feel like she should be more in a 00's anime/light novel in regards to getting the hint about members of the cast loving her. I'm hoping the anime can fix that though the last time I was hoping an anime would fix a Light Novel that I had some quibbles with I got the Make My Abilities average anime

i dont think it's so much that the main character of slime witch doesn't realize as, the story kind of tosses away the idea that it might ever seriously explore that side of the character dynamics early on when they have a gag that's literally just the sexy elf getting high on mushrooms and chasing her through a forest as she yells about how she's straight and would never want to kiss a woman

Not terribly surprising, IMO - I really enjoyed Ishihara's work on Nichijou and I think a similar energy would work reasonably well with Maidragon. That said, Kvin later said that the plan is apparently to try in keep in line with the work Takemoto had already done for the series before the disaster in 2019 and his overall style. Hope it comes together well, whatever my mixed feelings about the overall franchise are these days.

Yeah I'm cautiously optimistic that Maiddragon will still be good, this is a good sign that it'll at least be visually consistent with the first season.
