there’s a lot of car camping YouTube content that gets you around the whole renting an RV space thing i had a pretty low stakes occasion to try it a few years ago when i took a vacation to iceland to sleep in the back of a hyundai tucson i pooped in gas stations and parked it in a random residential neighborhood in walking distance of all the bars in Reykjavik for the few days i stayed there, or otherwise just on random roads in whatever village was around when i wanted to snooze in theory the police could have asked me to move but no one seemed to notice me and care although, crucially, despite walking around a whole bunch every day taking in the sights and whatever, i didn’t really sweat that much and i wasn’t worried about work car living requiring moving where you sleep + random horrible American commute times seems bad
