Some thread favorites are on sale in the Steam Survival Fest. Patron or Oxygen Not Included for , Northgard for $7.50, Stacklands for 25% off (yeah, from $4.99 to a mighty $3.74, why haven't you already bought it?), Going Medieval for $5 off, whee. Has anybody played Craftopia? EA.

Craftopia is on Game Pass, so it's "free" if you have that service. Can't weigh in on how it is - I installed it to gently caress around with friends, but summer has (sadly) been focused on house projects and touching grass.

Even the route path shows a functional route, but once a train pulls into the station, it can’t find a path because it is trying to leave through the wrong exit of the exchange. It is infuriating.

This Dinkum game seems to be getting a lot of hype, is it good enough to play now or is it worth waiting to see how it shakes out in early access? Does it feel early access?

Does anyone know how to get transport companies in Cartel Tycoon to only deliver hidden drugs? If I have opium hidden in vegetables then it'll only deliver either opium or vegetables when selected in the menu.

Correct, I only want to be shipping the hidden ones so I have the opium, weed, and vegetable containers selected in the menu, but I want to stop them from shipping any of the un-hidden ones. Do I have to micromanage the shipping companies to have "ship only hidden" exclusive buildings sending to the port?

I think you can disable the export point from shipping out exposed drugs; using that screenshot, toggle off joints and opium and make sure that the smuggling goods are toggled on. If that doesn't work then yeah, change the transport settings from the transport company and make sure they're only shipping out smuggling containers.

I ended up picking up Autonauts on console. The controls are manageable but I'm so used to using the d-pad for menus that it's hard to relearn. You need to use the d pad to open the menu in that direction on the screen then use the stick to move around the menu and then dpad back if you want to switch to your avatar. So it's like, d pad left to open the bot menu and hit record, d pad right to control your guy and make him do something, d pad left to open the bot menu and manipulate commands. It works but it feels like it would be quite difficult to learn if I didn't have pre-existing knowledge so I could think "How do I do [this]?" and search the controls. Even then, I cannot figure out how to add a single bot to a group. Only 2+. No charging is great, should have been like that from the start. 300 bot limit is interesting. I'm assuming that means I will need to replace all old bots and rip out old infrastructure for new (like replacing the OG tree farm with the sustainable ones you eventually unlock). That might make for a better challenge but it's going to add plenty of labor to an already tedious game. We'll see.

I figured it out, the "specified containers" is not "ship the drugs above hidden in these containers", it's "import any drug that is hidden inside this container". if you select vegetables only then it will send you every drug that can be sent that is wrapped in a vegetable.

A heap of it feels straight cribbed from animal crossing (especially the dialogue and museum) and Stardew Valley/harvest moon but it's a good game so far for a single dev. I think the game has no real events or specific dates so it's just 4 seasons of 28 days with not much different (other than crop and fish/insect availability). Yet. There's MP but I believe at the moment you can't get any progress as a visitor - you can't build a house or do your quests etc (I think). But it's also cheap, so if you like being able to terraform right from the start (just need a shovel) and building a town and farming, you'll probably enjoy it. Also, you can get some QoL mods already, like giving you the sell price of items and pausing when you are in the menu (not sure how/if that works in MP).

It's demo time again on Steam! This demo fest is survival themed, but this game is more of a life sim so I think this is maybe the best thread for it. I'll check in with some other thread-relevant games but just finished with this one and thought I'd write it up while it's fresh. I think it's pretty good. Nobody: The Turnaround This happened as soon as the prologue finished: note: this car was not parked I knew I was in for a treat. The second time I died, it was from being too sad because I didn't know how to wash my clothes. That's because game has a literal suicide meter. More than one, in fact! Not pictured: the 4th suicide meter, which appears to be the one most likely to actually kill you. A life sim / survival game set in a nameless modern Chinese city. This game reminds me of Persona (the life sim part) and Disco Elysium (themes of urban squalor and mental health.) You play as the titular random nobody, having just moved to the big city to get a job so you can pay down family debt. Gameplay consists of various activities you pursue to make money, manage your physical and mental needs, develop social relationships, and more. There is a skill tree for unlocking jobs and improving performance, and a few stats you can develop for various bonuses. The game notes that you get 'exploration experience' in different domains as you try new things, although what that actually does isn't clear in the demo. The in-game clock counts down in realtime as you wander around doing things (1 second irl = 1 minute ingame), sometimes pausing the timer while you play a minigame related to the activity you're doing, then timewarping to when you're done. Notable things include: Petting dogs to feel less depressed: Taking exams: Earning the respect of THE AUNTIES the only way possible: And, presumably, much more. Thematically and artistically, the game is bleak, owing partly to the starting scenario. Your father skipped town and left your family with a gambling debt, so now the loan sharks are now after you. And, as the game says in no uncertain terms, if you fail to meet your obligations, your sister is next. Litter and homelessness is everywhere (including yourself if you aren't careful), and the world has a dingy, faded look to it. The debt collectors are far from the only ugly people you'll deal with. Still, these elements work for the game, to make the occasional kind act of a stranger or street music performance feel a little warmer. Worth noting is that, while only one scenario is unlocked in the demo, there are 2 more listed plus a sandbox mode. The scenario ends after about 2 weeks, and judging from things listed but not usable in the demo, your long term goal (after paying off the debt) is presumably to just generally be a happy and successful person - get an actual apartment, nice clothes, maybe a girlfriend? There's what looks like a framework for Stardew style dating. Worth noting is that you are locked to a male character for the specific scenario in the demo, and lol at the thought of gay dating in a Chinese game. Overall I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's worth noting that the localization is excellent (just text, still Chinese VA which seems fine to a non-speaker), no weird phrasing and even some alright jokes. I really like the life sim aspect of Persona games, which this demo did pretty well, but with a vibe of dejected Chinese everyman instead of psychic anime highschooler. So, to my tastes at least, even better. After playing the demo, I'd say I'm very likely to pick this up at 1.0. metasynthetic fucked around with this message at 11:45 on Aug 6, 2022 |

I haven't played it in a long time, but your starting situation can be pretty RNG with regards to what resources will pop up when you prospect and which neighbours you get. If you end up in a situation where the basic resources you prospect are unwanted by your neighbours, you're going to have a much harder time getting your economy going. If they don't want Bauxite there's still a decent chance they'll want the goods you can make with it (aluminum or stuff using aluminum), but you might not be able to get your country to the point where you can live off of that. I'm not very good at the game so I usually restart if it looks hopeless

Not that we have any guarantee of that, but I have a pretty good opinion of Crate after years of playing their previous title.
