Phaiston have long avoided the tightly competetive defence sector, but the IRDA Act 2052 has given us the freedom we need to bring out something really special.

Throwing some potato and onion in a blender mixing it up with egg and flour, and frying it in little dollops makes for some easy and tasty potato pancakes.

Also I realised I've been frying eggs super wrong all my life, the other day I used really hot oil and left them in for longer than planned. I thought they'd be burned but instead the edges of the white went crispy and bubbly. Those were some good times.

Any time I've been to Ireland the breakfasts have been pretty great. Best black pudding I've ever had. Then there's white pudding (vaguely similar to American breakfast sausage but with oats), potato bread and soda bread.

White pudding is amazing and I laughed for some time when a dude I was dating revealed that as a child, he'd been told that it was black pudding but made with snot instead of blood and had never questioned it until now.

It's a thing, they're packed in water. There's just something... different about them, not really in a bad way, maybe whatever preservatives they use. But they don't taste like raw potatoes. We used to have them a lot when I was a kid. Sometimes I still want em.

Yeah, they're not a patch on fresh potatoes but they're basically ready-to-eat so if you're midway through making a curry or something else strongly-flavoured enough to mask the taste and suddenly realise you need more bulk they can be lobbed in without needing to boil them tender first.

I usually have muesli weekdays but my weekend breakfast is far more of a proper meal and contributes to me doing very little on weekend afternoons

In the UK, french toast is called "eggy bread" and generally eaten as a savoury dish, it kinda occupies the same place in the meal that a fried egg would.

When I'm making a fried cheese sandwich I like to drop the sandwich quarters in beaten egg before I fry them. Feels good man
