what this building says to me is "we need a large, open, light filled space which is multi-functional but primarily a congregation space, and we have this absolutely tiny budget and not a penny more"

its alright given the obvious constraints here in terms of climate and money

I have read all of that but I still just see concrete and go "that's brutalism" because architecture words are too complicated.

I know this is because they are trying to communicate a very complicated and specific series of ideas, but big concrete make brain happy that brutalism yeah

It's in the Pruuttala region (Swe. Brutalis) of Savonia so where is your god now? (Answer: in the brutalist church water reservoir)

But yeah it looks like a ball hall like Megillah Gorilla said.

architecture chat wraps up its own rear end twice but the use of raw concrete (brutalism?) is negated by the big rear end (no) clerestory windows (no!) and exposed steel beams (no!!)

Fun Shoe
I've been out of skiing for a long time, so I guess there's artificial grass that can be used as a ski slope now? Cause they sure don't show the building with any snow on it on the website.

Does it even snow in Copenhagen or does it get that gulf-stream moderated climate like the rest of Western Europe

OwlFancier

It snows in the UK sometimes, I would assume copenhagen gets it worse than we do being further east.

I look at that, and then I look at this thread, and I think, "Don't trust any architect under 130,." "Why?"

It's part of the state university in Pittsburgh and was built in the 30s for $10m, or, in 2015 dollars, ~$130m. If I ever win a very large lottery, America's getting another one.

It is also the tallest educational structure in the western hemisphere and was apparently the site of some good powerwasher porn in 2007 when this happened:

I feel like it's straight out of some utopian alternate reality where threads like this don't exist. Look at it. Look at it.

The Old Stockholm telephone tower (Swedish: Telefontornet ) was a metallic structure built to connect approximately 5,500 telephone lines in the Swedish capital of Stockholm. Constructed in 1887, the tower was used until 1913. It was damaged by a fire in 1952 and demolished the following year.
