Love craps. Always play don't pass, gently caress what the other people at the table say. You'll win more money, and you'll win more often.

Agronox posted:"Vigorish" has a pretty negative connotation, conjuring up visions of loan sharks breaking fingers and the like. But it's pretty much the same thing. It’s also from a Hebrew word so there’s also very deep anti-Semitic feelings about it as well. Can’t forget that beauty.

Jose Valasquez posted:Never bet don't pass because that ruins the social aspect and the difference is tiny anyway. Actually it's great fun to be the Don't Pass player because who cares, gently caress em, if they don't like it they can leave

Snack Bitch posted:Ok, this thread is the first I’ve learned about actually playing craps and it sounds super fun to play. Blackjack and slots never clicked but I want to try craps now. Can you take any bets back or just certain ones? iirc (someone correct me if I'm wrong) but when craps or point is hit, at that time before a new point or new shooter you can take anything off that you want. Craps rules because 1. Street cred, tossin' bones, etc. 2. Some of the best odds in the casino 3. Generally lively atmosphere 4. A bunch of ways to play 5. Not played sullen, old-rear end degenerate gamblers like slots or smoking, pissed off tourists like baccarat Here's a good video showing some live craps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2zNTZiEGFw

Yeah the dealers and stickmen at the tables have everything down to virtual muscle memory so even though it looks complex, they'll get what you mean 99.999% of the time Usually you can just fling chips onto the table in the general area you want them and say where you want your bet and in what amounts and they're so one-with-the-game that they have no issue with a ton of complex bets coming in at once

Is there ever a time you *don't* take odds on your pass or don't pass?

Snazzy Frocks posted:It's your own rear end if you want to gloat your don't wins at a table of grumpy drunks. If there's like 2 or three other people you can laugh out the wins and losses unless one side is getting crushed What are they going to do? Cry?

Frankly anyone who gets mad that any player goes for the Don’t Pass and wins playing needs to just shut up, because 1. After enough time everyone always loses in the end regardless of how they play 2. The games are meant to be played for fun, not getting sweaty about 3. They played a definitively worse odds choice for an arbitrary reason anyways 4. Stop caring so much how other people play you wankstain Like, if people were smart and not morons the only thing they’d ever do is play don’t pass with odds, but if someone is going Come and doing Hardways and poo poo that have horrible odds like that and only *then* they get pissed at another player for doing the objectively smartest thing you could do? gently caress outta here
