All I remember about Doug is that one episode where there's gonna be a kite competition, but his dad's kite looks really lame, so Doug adds paint and some wings, but then it won't fly. His dad comes in toward the end of the episode and takes the wings off and shows Doug that it's actually a STUNT KITE. Then they grind up some glass and glue it onto the kite string so that Doug can cut the other kids' kite strings and win the competition. E: I skipped a bunch of pages, so I don't know if it was posted, but this was my favorite song played in a Pete and Pete episode: https://youtu.be/9zKyEKEs4us Batterypowered7 fucked around with this message at 05:43 on Jan 19, 2021 |

I liked Doug, not because of the main character, but because I grew up in a neighborhood that wasn't close to anything, and where you needed a car to get around, so the sight of a town where a kid could just ride his bike around to places or his friends' houses was neat. Thst sentiment wasn't unique to Doug, though. I enjoyed pretty much any cartoon where the characters had that type of freedom.

Doug was just sort of bland filler until Ren & Stimpy or Rocko came on but I'd change the channel to avoid Rugrats. I always confuse it with gazpacho for some reason.

Like even as a kid that loved gross-out humor the idea of mallets and carrots being smeared with poo poo and rubbing against Bugs's little rabbit butthole was just viscerally revolting in a way nothing else at the time was, it's probably why even as a child with very low standards I would always change channels when Looney Toons came on.

His crush with Ruth ended in "Arnold's Valentine" after he went on a date with her and realized she wasn't his type.
