I lived in a bog standard Chicago two-flat (LR/DR in the front, narrow hallway with bed/bath going to kitchen in the back) awhile back and it had a gorgeous built-in china cabinet in the dining room with some nice scrollwork on the hutch part... that had been filled in by decades and layers upon layers of white paint. It made me sad.

This was my grandmother's house. Seeing this article on it made me think of this thread and I wanted to share.

It's already sold, the buyer plans on turning it into an Airbnb. Not sure how much work she's going to do.
