I just found this LP and I already love it. Please continue it for as long as you are able! I haven't laughed like this in a long time. Before, I thought that Elminster was a self-insert of obnoxious proportions. Now, he looks like the very model of restraint. Magnificent.

Oh wow, I thought *you* had put that portrait there as a joke or something.

And no, I don't mind the non-Sandrah interludes. If this LP was just nonstop Sandrah, it'd be kind of hard to take.

wait why does Imoen sometimes talk like Jar Jar Binks

 The world may never know. I've also noticed that in the new Elminster dialogue, he's busted out the y'all once or twice. Seems a little, uh, out of place given the Early Modern English vibe he's supposed to have going on, but whatever.

Sandrah's writing is, as usual, breathtaking, though probably not in the way the author intended. I'm guessing Sandrah is able to single-handedly turn the big bad away from evil with her "astonishing insight" and a long kiss. Or maybe she just kills him with a single strike of her vorpal nipples.

Yeah, Imoen has been doing the "besta friend" thing for a while now. Sandrah started saying it in the last update too. I'm not too sure if it's supposed to be some kind of affect or catch phrase or what. Could also just be lovely editing, though in that case I'd expect to see more typos and such.

Oh right, the BG novel! I read it when I was kid. I've forgotten virtually everything about it, except one scene where Charname gets pointlessly angry while they're at an inn and punches a hole clean through the wall into the next room. It was kinda funny, in a dumb-as-gently caress kinda way.

I'm not really getting why Roxanne felt the need to develop this gigantic mod project, with all the tedium and troubleshooting that entails, when a 1623435-part porn parody posted on... I dunno, wherever videogame erotic fanfiction lives... would have been much less work, achieved the exact same thing, and probably reached more people. But then, there's quite a bit about this modder's personality that is baffling slash alarming to me, so I guess I'll just have to wonder.

I still find it hilarious how Imoen's love interest is the random-rear end shopkeeper. I can't put my finger on exactly why, but it cracks me up every time.

You might not be bhaalspawn, and yet I see more than a spark in you. You shall surely walk down a path to greatness.

It was just a suspicion, back when I was a little girl in Waterdeep. My father never talked about it, but he would sometuimes forget his papers in his study. I was curious, so I quickly learned Ancient Draconic in order to decipher them. Since then I knew what I had suspected before.

What a memorable mortal you are! Truly, I see much of my own supernatural essence in you as well. The clarity of your thoughts, the deepness of your eyes, the strength and elegance of your every movement... it all speaks to me.

Um, guys? I'm still here, you know.

I have to confess... when I first glimpsed you from the celestial realm, I was intrigued. More than that, I felt a strange bond between us, a kinship of sorts between the mortal and the immortal planes...

I felt the same... my love. From when I was but a young girl, my thoughts wandered often towards the celestial realm, drawn to it by the vision of a burning heart and of eyes like flame. 'twas your radiant beauty, no doubt.

Oh dearest Sandrah...

(Sandrah showers the Solar with her passionate kisses, her hand gently caressing its face and chest before slowly, but surely wandering downward...)

Well yeah, but popularity doesn't guarantee anything at all in Skyrim modding. I have found that if a mod includes a follower/companion, it's probably garbage. If a mod is nothing but a follower/companion, it's almost certainly garbage.

It's been a long time since I played MotB, but the bit about the Wall didn't bother me. It's a colossal injustice, one that even gods cannot overturn, which to me just says that there are some problems that cannot be solved with a +1000000 greatsword or a 100 Wisdom score or a caster level of a billion. It's risky to ask a player to contemplate their limits in a game that is to an extent a power fantasy (using the epic ruleset, no less!) but IMO ultimately yields a more interesting story.

quote:

Also, the Wall of the Faithless as it existed in 2E and 3E Forgotten Realms is nothing like how it's presented in Mask beyond the vaguest concept.

In brief: in the actual lore of the tabletop setting, the Wall is for people who reject the gods. Not for the ignorant, not for those who worshiped something other than a god, only those who specifically and consciously refuse to accept the rule of a god, even in the Fugue Plane after the gods have specifically explained what's going to happen. You don't even have to worship a god, just acknowledge that they're in charge.

No one ends up in the Wall who didn't literally ask for it with full knowledge of what it entails.

I didn't know this. It's possible my opinion might have been different if I had. Reading it now, it seems less unjust and tragic, but loses some of its dramatic gravity in the process. At least for the story that MotB was trying to tell.

(brb gonna make a Sandrah mod for NWN2)

Right, this is the crowd that complained when Call of Duty did WW2 again and you could play as a female soldier. I'm sure they have similar feelings about those no-good uppity black and brown people, so maybe her race/skin color somehow factors into it? Or maybe she's an LGBT+ character, they don't like that community either. Or all of the above. If I had to guess, it'd be something along those lines.

I'm excited for this little mystery now! Maybe I'll figure it out before Sandrah does. jk, Sandrah knows everything already. I never stood a chance, alas.

I lost it at Boolerion. Holy poo poo. That has catapulted itself straight into my top 5 :stonklol: moments reading this LP. And the mod just plays it 100% straight, because that's how Roxanne writes: everything is in earnest at all times, gently caress nuance, gently caress agency, gently caress restraint, and most importantly, gently caress you.

I think the duergar changing into giants is meant to mimic one of their innate abilities; duergar can cast an enlarge spell on themselves that makes them bigger and tougher. The frost giant sprite is probably the closest representation, since a quadruple-sized duergar sprite would a.) look like pickled rear end in a top hat, and b.) might not even be possible with current modding tools anyway.

Agreed on Aerie, her 24/7 pissing and moaning turned me off right from the first time I played this game. She didn't even need Roxanne's help to be annoying, although the latter was happy to oblige anyway and make it even more insufferable. Has Sandrah slept with her yet? I can't specifically recall, but I'm going to go ahead and assume that she has.

As for Chloe, she's downright tolerable here. It sounds like playing a female PC turns it all to :stonk:, but playing as a dude seems to have sidestepped the worst of it. My sympathies on avoiding the dogshit, Vichan, I know you tried really hard and I commend your effort.

Yeah, 2nd ed AD&D had some weird notions of how alignment ought to work. Much of the time neutral plays out like :effort: good more than anything else, and you get these weird situations with characters being sticklers for "the balance", whatever that's supposed to be. I suspect the writers didn't really know either, just that they had to adhere to the AD&D setting as it was laid out.

Yeah, the neverending polyamorous orgy that was BG1's party has tapered off significantly. There's more one-off content courtesy of the meet-and-gently caress-random-women mod, but the love triangles are markedly fewer. I don't think Vichan's had a single threesome since before shanking Sarevok. It's uncharacteristically subdued writing from Roxanne.

And that's all she wrote for Shadows of Amn! Don't let the amount of chapters fool you, this took a lot more effort to get done than the BG1 portion of this LP and I've been completely drained by the experience. From Throne of Bhaal onwards things will be a lot more linear which should be much easier to deal with overall. I'm going to take a break for a while but I am still fully committed to finishing this monstrosity, hopefully for the sake of my sanity I'll be able to get it done by the end of this year. No pressure though.

Once again I want to thank each and every one of you for managing to stick around. Watching you guys react to the insanity that's been going on has made the entire thing worthwhile.

Thank you for persevering through this train wreck! I'm still not entirely sure how you did it, or at what cost to your psyche, but it's been... an experience, to be sure. I think I know what you mean about feeling burned out on non-Sandrah mod content. With Sandrah, it's fun to roll your eyes and/or gag reflexively at her author's antics- how is she going to crowbar her way into the narrative and make it all about her this time? Which NPCs will completely break character to tell Sandrah how amazing and perfect she is? And every now and again something completely out of left field like "Boolerion" or "actually, rape is good!" The sheer amount of wtf is something to behold. By contrast, the other mods just seem dull. Maybe they're more fun to play than watch, but it's always fighting the same monsters on the same maps using the same strategies as the same NPCs exposit generic fantasy dialogue ad infinitum. Some of that can't really be helped, the modding tools are quite limited after all. But in that situation, you need strong writing to pick up the slack, and... yeah, turns out strong writing is in desperately short supply in these mods.
