i love the SP 4449: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvozb_WM7XY what's amazing is that if i remember right, while it's not going that fast in the video, that class locomotive had a top speed of like 105mph. like, fuckin' steam locomotives on passenger service were hauling rear end faster than most of the "modern" Amtrak fleet does today (although a lot of that is due to the freight railroads not building/maintaining their lines to the standard needed for 100+mph speeds, not so much due to the capabilities of the Amtrak locomotives)
