This kind of grew out of watching Townsends (who is fantastic and I’m sure most people here watch), but I’ve enjoying videos of people camping in the winter (building camp, staying warm, cooking) and also just cooking in the woods. My son also enjoys them too. I’m just wondering if anyone has their favorites they can recommend? Like a lot are fairly descriptive title (Primal Camping) so it’s often just whatever YouTube search puts out. Stuff with hunting and fishing is fine too. Also any that has a historical component like Townsends (say one about simulating parts of the mountain man life) is a huge plus. Oh and for those who want to suggest that I go camping, I’d like to, just waiting to get vaccinated and for better weather, vs trying it in poor weather. Luckily my dad camps a lot, so I have a good resource to lean on. MazelTovCocktail fucked around with this message at 14:17 on Jan 21, 2021 |

I thoroughly enjoy watching Steve Wallis' videos: https://youtube.com/c/thestevewallis He does ordinary camping with basic gear, sometimes with just household items, also stealth camping in odd locations, reinforcing that you can camp everywhere, even in a highway median. Plus he's a totally chill Canadian with a peaceful and pragmatic outlook on life, the kind of guy you'd love to share a beer and a campfire meal with.

I'm a pretty big guy and I think I'd be sick if I ate two pounds of chicken alfredo (like in his latest video)

I've been following Brian's travels for some time now on his youtube channel Adventure Van Man https://www.youtube.com/c/AdventureVanMan You'll see him camping all over the United States in his van (full timer) and he usually shows a tasty meal he whips up at camp. Currently he just bought a box truck and will be building it out. Should be interesting and he's just a down to earth guy. Highly recommend

Apologies if it's verboten to post anime here but I think Laid-Back Camp can fit the bill here. https://www.crunchyroll.com/laid-back-camp It's about high school girls camping around in and around Yamanashi with Mt Fuji as the backdrop during the winter. As per the title, it's very relaxing and chill and actually quite educational about camping and cooking equipment and techniques.

Fun fact; the narrator who does the educational voice overs is Ootsuka Akio, aka the Japanese voice actor for Solid Snake amongst other roles. There's also a thread in ADTRW and the second season is currently airing. https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3844501
