I hate to spoil the ending, but...some stuff gets eaten, y'know?
It took an embarrassingly long time for me to figure out that I could belt vertically. I kept hoping the next node in the tech tree would give me undergroundies, but they never came. :downsgun:

So I end up with this theme park looking thing instead of a real mall.
