I really wish the opening hadn't spoiled that Kumoko and the demon lord aren't the same person. They were still teasing that in this episode. That would have been quite a reveal for the end of the episode. These water dragons look generic and boring. Those should be sharks.

A pretty fun episode! Some needed exposition, some development on both the human and spider side, and some big clues dropped that I'm excited to see what the thread has to say about! Animation on the human side was a bit sub-par again, but since it was non-action scenes, it wasn't as a bad. Detail from the LN that was left out of the anime: Administrator D left out a 'fun' bit of exposition that the reason the Zana Horowa has never evolved before is that she built the Ede Saine, the spider species that evolves into Zana, as a self-destructing monster. It gets a rot scythe-arm attack, but does not come with rot resistance. So the first time it used its primary attack, it will kill itself and its target. Kumoko only survived because she was dumb enough to eat that gross bug that one time and get rot resistance from it, so using her rot attack only destroyed her arms, not her whole body.

EDIT: I never thought of that, ThingOne.  Another great episode. As someone who's read the manga & LN, I can say things are accelerating WAY fast. They've already outpaced most of the manga and are closing in on a good chunk of the novels. So the amazing arachnid finally meets the Demon Lord, eh? No reason for Kumoko to go all to pieces like that.

There is a whole thing about this in the LN that the anime completely skipped over in episode 14 Spoilers for events that have already occurred in the anime but differently: She's able to break out of Hugo's mind control because she already has parallel minds from all the strain her identity issues have been putting on her psyche. The "old" her is able to interfere with the fire spell she's casting and blow it up in their face. Katia's gender and identity issues are really quite interesting and compelling in the LN. It's a dang shame I can't tell if a choice of how they present a scene is a deliberate choice or production errors because the attack in the scene at the end between Kumo and The Demon Lord at least in the manga, she releases a huge like pressure/blast wave with a wave of her arm. Instead it seems like she either diced Kumo with presumably invisible threads which also blew her body/bits away or was just like the blast wave but without any visibly noticable blast wave. Either way the scene works its just frustrating that there's guesswork now.

So D's identity Could it be one of the three students that's not Wakaba that Oka said were dead or was that a misdirect? And did we see any of them in the flashbacks? Also gotta be honest I laughed when the cause of death was revealed to be an inadvertent effect of the hero and demon lord trying to kill God. Makes me think that's what Ariel in the future is trying to accomplish now and why Shun got the hero title since she seems to know him.

Something that's been skipped by the human side story long ago is that non-crazy people (IE, people who aren't Kumoko) generally don't turn on parallel minds permanently because you quickly loose your sense of who's you. You generally only turn it on for combat and then turn it off right after, so the minds tend to be very short lived.
